i cant play a game based on gameplay alone! i need likeable characters and a good storyline, and i certainly cant go through an entire game playing as new dante, even if he iturns back to the true dante at the end.

First of all this game will not succeed, as DmC producer expects way too much, he wants 4 million+, and no beat em up (not even God of War 3) have beaten 3 million mark this generation. Second, "failure" of this game can also have various degrees. Simple situation a-la "Bionic Commando" would probably mean death for DMC, but a major flop couldn't be explained by something like mutlple release postponements.

It doesn't mean death to DMC, but more so end of CAPCOM's attempts to "westernize" (quotes, because DMC is already quite western) their games.
