Shawn Mullins - Twin Rocks, Oregon

Saw him live at the Zephyr in Salt Lake City shortly after Soul's Core came out. It was one of the greatest live shows for the quality of music I've ever seen. Years later taking a motorcycle trip I happened to pass through Twin Rocks, OR and can see the "why" for this song. I didn't have any MD 20/20 with me though so I think it was more like MGD to toast the experience.

I had the honor of performing a song on stage with Mr. Mullins and have to say that he is one of the most amazing people I have ever got to meet. His music is pure and moving and he, as a person, is genuine and nice. He was so open and approachable. When he asked me to sit in with him at The Bluebird in Bloomington, IN., I had to pinch myself to make sure I was awake. On stage we had a blast. I hope to see him again real soon

unbelievable that the only song Mullins ever had popularized was one of his worst....this man is a poet on the same level as Dylan, Prine, or Guthrey. Artists like Mullins come around rarely, we're lucky to be alive and able to enjoy him.

It was incredible! What a cool guy. So down to earth. He single handedly changed my outlook on songwriting. I asked him about Twin Rocks, Oregon in particular, as far as what inspired him. And he said it was pretty much a true story. He rain into this trian hopper, and just chilled with him, listened to his story. The train hopper looked JUST LIKE Richard Braudigan.

@TheTammylee513 It was pretty awesome. He was just a normal guy with a lot of passion. Knowing some artists will just write a song to write a song, I asked him about this one. He said that it all happened, almost exactly as he sang it. It makes me look at it differently. After the class, I left thinking that I just met one of the most unappreciated songwriters of our time.
