@vidkidxyz Federal money has consistently made up about a third of the state's budget for the past decade. In the current budget, the $66 billion in federal aid includes money to provide health care to very low-income Texans, offer additional education services for children with disabilities, feed poor children during the school day, and build and maintain highways. Without that funding, the state would have to raise taxes to fund these endeavors, or eliminate them altogether.
Imagine. Texas as independent. Rick Perry is replaced by a Libertarian. All drugs are legalized. Crime rate plummets. CIA subterfuge invades every level of Texas government. US places embargo on Texas to try and force it back into the Union. Texas establishes trading partners with multiple nations. Texas economy grows to the point where we must put a fence all the way around Texas to keep illegals from entering and taking away jobs. Dang it. Seems like we just can't win.
We don't want hand outs and we don't like taxes. The majority does not have the right to dictate to the minority. Everyone has certain inalienable rights. Other than those rights specifically given to the Federal Government, all other rights remain with the state. This in itself would drastically reduce Federal influence. Right now our leaders are just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Texas history is unique in that we won our Independence from Mexico. Battle at San Jacinto.
Hahaha, Ok let's see what happens when Texas leaves. All passports are void, all federal bases and insitutions like the army and space program leave. We build a wall on the TEXAS border and see how the Texans deal with the incursion of Mexico into their lame republic.
@donjuandonjuan what does ducks have to do with ppl? Maybe if we replace ducks with monkey and quacks with jump? If it walks like monkey, jumps like a monkey, it must be a monkey.
This guy is a complete nutjob and his only factor in doing this is that he wants to be President of Texas. I predict he will piss his panties when the Texas Secession war starts.
the purpose of secession is to protect a minority against the majority, why may not a individual citizen secede whenever he or she is displeased by the laws or policies under which he or she lives?
And after individuals become convinced that they have a legal right to secede, that each individual has the legal right to reject the outcome of any election with which he or she happens to disagree with, does not civil society under law become impossible?
The American revolutionaries of 1776 understood themselves as lawbreakers. They were openly violating the laws of Britain because they believed those laws were unjust by the standard of the natural law. Every signer of the United States Declaration of Independence, including John Hancock, who famously offered his signature in large script so that King George III could read his name without spectacles, clearly understood that they risked execution for treason if caught by the British.
@dualberettas - Can one imagine anything more preposterous then the suggestion that the British subjects living in North America under the authority of King George III possessed a legal right of secession? Why had monarchy survived as long as it had in Europe if Europeans living under Kings had possessed a legal of secession all along?
You guys could at least admit you are breaking the law, and commiting the crime of treason.

@Zeeboe so you're saying we should have obeyed some self appointed 'authority' and just remained colonies of England? One man does NOT have a right to rule another. That's called slavery.
@dualberettas - Well, the Colonies were not exactly ruled over by England.
I just don't see why Texas being it's own country would be a good thing. Infact, it would be worst because we couldn't survive on our own, and no one is willing to tell me why Texas being independent would be good. I question how serious some of you take this, or if this is just some game.
But hey, if it makes you happy, fine. But I wouldn't seriously expect secession to happen.
Check out my video. If you don't believe in secession, then you believe in slavery, for you are for enslaving people to a government that they want no part of:
15 countrieS split from USSR in 1991. The World is still spinning...One Armenia, has the approx. annual GDP of my office bldg here in Farmers Branch TX.
When I first saw this interview, I thought this guy was a nut, and I was actually offended by his views. But after living with Obama for almost 2 years, The Republic of Texas wouldn't be half bad!
It's more a matter of Nullification - we not only have the RIGHT to refuse extra-constitutional laws and oppressive regimes, but the Laws of Nature and the Laws of Man, which our founders based American Liberty on "...are not to be rummaged for among old parchments or musty records. They are written, as with a sunbeam, in the whole volume of human nature, by the hand of the Divinity itself, and can never be erased or obscured by mortal power.”
One point: the People of the states DID NOT AUTHORIZE THE CONSTITUTION, and thus the Constitution cannot have surrendered any state's sovereignty.
They ONLY authorized modifications to the Articles of Confederation-- not REPLACEMENT. So while they may have acquiesced to the Constitution after the fact, this CANNOT have relinquished state sovereignty in an ex post facto manner.
Glenn Beck sucks at givin' interviews. He's all giddy & seems to have ADHD. And the cutoff tactic ruins his arguments except to those low intelligent fans that Mr Beck has. Guess he has to cater to his fans accordingly.
fuck that medina bitch, glen was right to call her out on her 9/11 trutherisms, how the fuck could someone be stupid enough to think 9/11 was an inside job and how the fuck could that person even think about running for higher office, well maybe in california,anyhoo..texas please secede, youre americas last hope
Well our government has murdered countless millions of people so its not that big of a stretch to question if it was an inside job. It's not that big of a stretch. But with that said I don't think 9/11 was an inside job and I think the issue is irrelevant since we already know what the USA gov is capable of just by looking at history.
Like we Americans would miss texas. We would be perfectly happy to give texas back to you all and take our money and our business and our military bases out and leave you your guns and inbreeders ;-)
That would actually be a good thing. There is no point in a permanent standing army, why does there need to be one within Texas? And what 'businesses' in Texas would somehow cease to exist? Businesses based in America sell to other countries all the time, otherwise they wouldn't be as big as they are today. No one would stop selling their products in Texas, and if they did it would only hurt themselves.
And Texas, or any seceded state, doesn't need Fed Reserve Notes.
@FlashVirus LOL!! by the way I live in South Central Texas...did I type all those mean things!? Seriously though... how many Texans would give up US citizenship?
the feds don't have to let texas seceed, Mr. Beck. the states created the federal govt., the federal govt. did not create the states. Mr.Beck seems to have a disdain for constitutionalists (Condescending looks at Mr. Miller) although he claims to be one. What's it you, Mr. Beck, if Texas leaves the union? Texas entered the union by treaty, not annexation. the decision to become one f the several states was made by a sovereign government (republic of texas).
CMLovejoy says "Texas would just get over ran by mexicans, and wouldn't be able to secure its borders without the help of the United States."
well, the feds aren't securing our borders now, and we're already run over by mexicans. maybe if we could direct some of the money in washington back home we could do something about it.
I don't know about that...We defeated Mexico before with half the number as they. I think Texas could muster a pretty formidable force. the citizenry is already heavily armed.
Actually I think Mexicans would support our cause. They understand that they would be shut out. But like in the Alamo. Mexicans fought against the dictators. Many men in the Alamo where Mexican. I'm almost certain (From what I have read and learned) That Mexico would support the Texans.
Funny how the US is always encouraging other countries to breakup, like USSR, Iraq, Afghanistan. but when it happens here it's a bad thing? America would be a much better place if the federal Government didnt have a choke hold on States.
Anyone who thinks this guy is just some hick doesn't acknowledge the Civil War. I believe Texas has the right to leave the union, they are a Republic, the only state that is, as far as I know. I salute the efforts of TNM. I would be no easy task, for sure. If am not mistaken Texas is self sustainable as well. I wouldn't worry about wall. They may want one themselves.
@LoveSenseDimension - No government is going to make secession legal, otherwise that government would not last. Any group with a complaint could make a threat to secede unless it's wishes were granted.
The U.S.A. is a great country. Some of you are just acting like spoiled children.
Those fools could not even hold Texas. Truth be told they live in fantasy land not Texas! They just want to get it all started. They do not have the Numbers to hold Texas from other Texans! Look up Lamars history in Texas. They are ruled by his evil spirit. They do not have the numbers and it is way too late for them to get them! If you hear people bring up Jackson and Lamar they are pure evil both are guilty of Genocide!
Texas would just get over ran by mexicans, and wouldn't be able to secure its borders without the help of the United States.
Texas may have a good economy now, but I don't know how long that's going to last due to changes made now. Most of the Texas economy is based on oil revenues, and the more we get away from oil the worst Texas will be.
Besides the US will never let Texas leave the union without a fight. The south tried that before.
"Over run by Mexicans" First there is no help from the US. They allow them to cross and don't do anything about it while Texans pay to educated and care for the children of illegal immigrants
Oil is not where Texas get's it's money. All the companies just have their refineries here. Texas supplies power and agriculture. that it their main source of income.
It's not the choice of the federal government on what Texas or any other state does.
houston is the energy capital of the world, and the state is a leader in renewable energy sources. the port of houston in the 2nd largest in the US (1st in foreign tonnage), and the 6th largest in the world. we have the resources, the manpower, the land, the guns, and the balls!
Man, Glenn Beck needs to be kicked from the Fox Network. He's becoming to liberal like a Neo-Con or some bullshit. That two-faced son of a bitch better watch it if he ever shows up at a tea party down here with that smart ass mouth of his. Texans love their guns like their children.
That organization should be pissed off at Glenn Beck for insinuating that joining that organization puts you on a gov. list. That's the real agenda of this interview. To sway people away from them.
I agree. After watching his handling of this interview, I no longer harbor any doubts that Beck is a Federal Govt operative -- which also means he's a tool of the Globalists.
who said anything is wrong with it. I am born and raised and am actually related to Sam Houstons family by marriage during the Texas revolution (an uncle married his daughter, not know the generation). For me and many other Texans, Texas comes first.
I was pointing out that Glenn is a two faced snake just trying to sell his books and make money.
I'm not against him making money. I am against people taking a position to report the news to the nation. Then use it as a tool for their own selfish gain. The press is a right to the people, not a tool for profit. That is what is wrong with it today. Corporate sponsors decide what news we see these days.
As far as Glenn goes, he is a two faced, double talking, liar. In April he was incouraging Texas secession, now he is talking down to the idea. He is a hyocrite that cries crocodile tears.
st4ticblu3, I know what you mean I was born and rasied in TX. For me to it is the same way Texas is first. I wish I was living in TX right now, but if I hear that you all are going to I am running to my wonderful TX!!!
I love how many neo-liberals make fun of Texans and actually voice support for kicking Texas out of the Union, but yet when push comes to shove they really don't mean it.
It would be their loss. Texas is the only state that continues to grow dispite the ressession. Many of the fortune 500 companies also plan to move to Texas in the next decade. We have the 8th strongest economy in the world as well.
If this climate bill that just passed isn't reason to secede, I don't know what is. The morons in Washington are one Senate vote away from flushing our economy down the toilet in order to fix an imaginary problem. Most of the sheeple are too bust talking about Michael Jackson's death to even notice. Secession is the only answer; America is dead.
The Cap and Trade Bill will hit Texas harder than any other state. like Glenn said, "Texas is the only sucessful state in the Union."
Even with all that has gone wrong in the economy we have gone uneffected compared to other states. The Cap and Trade bill attacks two markets more than any other. Agriculture and Energy. These are Texas's two largest industries. Now we will all have to pay for it.
We here are also cursed with something called "Texas Pride". We can't help but to put Texas first.
I am a Texan and wouldn't have it any other way. I am all for us to seceed from the union. I am fed up with all the spending with borrowed money from other countries that us and future generations will have to pay back. They are doing just whatever they want with it with no transparency like was promised. We need to secede while we still can before it's too late.We are wanting to keep our freedom.Big government is a problem.
I've never heard of this particular group. I'm friends with Larry Kilgore, who is running for public office on a secessionist platform and anther guy Gned the Gnome who is also working towards independence for Texas.
But it was a colony with the likes of australia im just more concerd about the UK as it is now Northern Ireland,Scotland,England and Wales and in each of the countries have nationalist parties. But to be honest its all to keep a balance i suppose alot of united countries have natonalists
Warmongers?Torturing?Evil?Thieving?I thought the Republicans lost the last election and wanted to bring war to the south out of greed!Am I wrong or was that what the Republican party did?Redshirt I thought red was the color of blood like the communist and capitalism gone wild! Two extremes both went wild and self destructed! Am I wrong? Is Red the color of honesty,Or the sly FOX?I thought it was the color of blood ,extremism and sly trickery! Oh yeah and the color of greedy loyalist Red Coat
Should truth be told or should spin forked tongue rule the weak? Is it ok to plant a tinny seed of hate to watch others go wild with exaggeration leading to extreme actions? Is it ok for people in high places to smile down at the weak that do their bidding? Will the greedy ever wake up to the spiritual truths that can set them free to become beautiful humans?
beck is such an idiot A GODDAMN yankee scourge of from satan, dubious bastard how many pills do you think he's on, judging by how bloated he is you can tell he is retaining at least a healthy 2 gallons of water in order to digest all the "prescriptions" he's on.

What exactly does the "Union" do for Texas?
Defend our borders? No...
Tax the crap out of us? Yes...
Interfere in local educational issues? Yes...
Prevent us from developing our resources? Yes...
I can't think of a positive thing they do...
I'd vote for secession in a heart-beat.

Hey Texas...on second thought, you can go.

LOL Perry is scared he will lose the next election. Texas is veryclose to becoming blue again. They do not speak for most Texians.
patrickintx 2 years ago
Wouldn't that be something? W's very own state turning against him.
dougmanjones 2 years ago
Although W was a good cheerleader in a Texas high school. he was born in Con. The evil was in that family way before they came to Texas!

I like Texas, but I think its a really bad idea.
CMLovejoy 2 years ago
"Over run by Mexicans" First there is no help from the US. They allow them to cross and don't do anything about it while Texans pay to educated and care for the children of illegal immigrants
Oil is not where Texas get's it's money. All the companies just have their refineries here. Texas supplies power and agriculture. that it their main source of income.
It's not the choice of the federal government on what Texas or any other state does.
and yes, i am from Texas. :p

Yea. They can't force them to serve if their state secedes. Their are a lot of Texans in the military too.

God bless Texas!
ruvvjub 2 years ago 2
That organization should be pissed off at Glenn Beck for insinuating that joining that organization puts you on a gov. list. That's the real agenda of this interview. To sway people away from them.
Proof Beck is not always on our side.
GaGirlie777 2 years ago 4
why is this beck guy acting like this is funny?
1337girlisback 2 years ago 2
I agree. After watching his handling of this interview, I no longer harbor any doubts that Beck is a Federal Govt operative -- which also means he's a tool of the Globalists.

Glenn Beck is a puppet, a shill, a drone. He is no journalist, nor is he a reporter. he is a terrible wannabe comedian.

st4icblu: what the heck is wrong with secession??
atrickpay11 2 years ago 2
who said anything is wrong with it. I am born and raised and am actually related to Sam Houstons family by marriage during the Texas revolution (an uncle married his daughter, not know the generation). For me and many other Texans, Texas comes first.
I was pointing out that Glenn is a two faced snake just trying to sell his books and make money.
st4ticblu3 2 years ago
st4ticblu: OK, sorry I must have misunderstood your post.
But why are you against Glenn making money? Don't you believe in capitalism and free enterprise?
atrickpay11 2 years ago
I'm not against him making money. I am against people taking a position to report the news to the nation. Then use it as a tool for their own selfish gain. The press is a right to the people, not a tool for profit. That is what is wrong with it today. Corporate sponsors decide what news we see these days.
As far as Glenn goes, he is a two faced, double talking, liar. In April he was incouraging Texas secession, now he is talking down to the idea. He is a hyocrite that cries crocodile tears.
st4ticblu3 2 years ago
st4ticblu3, I know what you mean I was born and rasied in TX. For me to it is the same way Texas is first. I wish I was living in TX right now, but if I hear that you all are going to I am running to my wonderful TX!!!

Secession is the foundation of American principles.

Independence is not achieved through forced unity.

Could the Cap and Trade Tax Bill push Texas to Secede from the Union?
Vitacore 2 years ago 3
I love how many neo-liberals make fun of Texans and actually voice support for kicking Texas out of the Union, but yet when push comes to shove they really don't mean it.
JumpinJesuits 2 years ago
It would be their loss. Texas is the only state that continues to grow dispite the ressession. Many of the fortune 500 companies also plan to move to Texas in the next decade. We have the 8th strongest economy in the world as well.
st4ticblu3 2 years ago 4
If this climate bill that just passed isn't reason to secede, I don't know what is. The morons in Washington are one Senate vote away from flushing our economy down the toilet in order to fix an imaginary problem. Most of the sheeple are too bust talking about Michael Jackson's death to even notice. Secession is the only answer; America is dead.
ljrahn 2 years ago 5
The Cap and Trade Bill will hit Texas harder than any other state. like Glenn said, "Texas is the only sucessful state in the Union."
Even with all that has gone wrong in the economy we have gone uneffected compared to other states. The Cap and Trade bill attacks two markets more than any other. Agriculture and Energy. These are Texas's two largest industries. Now we will all have to pay for it.
We here are also cursed with something called "Texas Pride". We can't help but to put Texas first.
st4ticblu3 2 years ago
Fuck washington times are hard enough down here. Greedy bastards.
Luigi84289 2 years ago 4
I am a Texan and wouldn't have it any other way. I am all for us to seceed from the union. I am fed up with all the spending with borrowed money from other countries that us and future generations will have to pay back. They are doing just whatever they want with it with no transparency like was promised. We need to secede while we still can before it's too late.We are wanting to keep our freedom.Big government is a problem.
