Barack Obama finally distances himself from Rev. Wright

So, let's see, Obama has known Reverend Wright for 20 years..has been part of Reverend Wright's congregation for 16 years...had Reverend Wright officiate his wedding...had him baptize his kids, but now, oh well, "I may not know him as well as I thought." Obama didn't know Wright's stances on any of these issues prior to the last couple months? Yet he's know the man and has been his friend for the last 20 years? Come on.

Nothing to this degree. These are big world-view type of statements we are talking about here, not little secretive confessions that pop out from time to time. It's virtually impossible for me to believe that Obama did not know Reverend Wright's views on important political issues such as these until a couple of months ago.

This was all a politcal screen play written by Barack and Wright.

Wright's new performance was purposely far more outrageous than ever before...So now,as you can see, Barack can totally repudiate Wright and his lunacy without fear of alienating any voters esp. black one.

This was all a bait and switch that was designed contrived to distance Obama from the unpopular views he has so long held as a member of TUCC.

We haven't heard from Wright since, and we won't.

I'm glad BO did this, but it's going to be hard for him to convince me he did this out of conviction and not because of political expediency. Wright's recent comments are no different than the things he said in the videos; why does BO now find them "unacceptable"? If the comments were so bad, BO would have rejected Wright when the videos were first released; but he didn't. IMO the recent heat was too great and BO made the decision to categorically reject Wright.

it's sad that barack even had to acknowledge comments made by wright. aesthetics and statements taken out of context have skewed perceptions. i feel that barack made his statement to appease the media, not the american public. no one is perfect, nor do i feel that the american public is looking for a perfect person to hold office. the candidacy would sit vacant for eternity if that were the case. it's disheartening to see that politics (media/the system) have once again reared its ugly head.

Wright got played by Howard University pastor Barbra Reynolds, who is backing Hillary. She put the event together, and structured the questions to bring out all the low points of the situation.

I hope it backfires on the conniving Clinton campaign, and that people wake up and see that Rev. Wright wrongs are a small thing, and that he was bamboozled by his friend, Rev. Reynolds!

What is inappropriate is religion being made a part of government. The two things have nothing to do with each other. We should speak out and stop tolerating religious pandering in politics. I do not care who my candidate's pastor is or what his beliefs are. I do not want to hear politicians evangelizing. To me, that is what should be "denounced." Rev. Wright has been saying these types of things for 20 years, and Obama HAS been listening to him and being a part of what the Rev. has been preaching. So why does Obama now denounce such things? Politics is a funny business; it's o.k. to be part of something inappropriate until you're caught at it!
