  • ditc. this album got much play in the riviera back in '97... real hip hop neggahs. act like ya know..

  • songs like this make me feel old, but in perspective.. it feels good, im glad i was raised in the "O.G" era, where you could find some dope jams on mtv, and can by a tall can for 1 dollar..... now i just sit back, reminisce, smoke an L, and bump the jams...R.I.P the Old schooll

  • @DLcKxFTR same here. i look around at all the young bucks wearing skinny jeans and bright colors and shit, and i think to my self "my pops would have beat my ass if i ever came home dressed like that.." lol, but times change g. so like you said, smoke an L and be glad we were raised in the golden era...

  • @DLcKxFTR You ain't old, you are real.

  • @DLcKxFTR lol I ain't mad at that, go 'head now.

  • @DLcKxFTR lol Definitely makes me feel old as well but I'm 30. Back in the late 90s we could still get 40s for 99cents. I would give anything to go back.

  • @DLcKxFTR

    word.

  • @DLcKxFTR ....hey, father time is undefeated. We are all young, and then we all age. Its how it is, nobody is immune or special. The key is to grow old gracefully, which it seems like ur doing. Props!

  • @flipgood89 no doubt"" one

  • @DLcKxFTR These types of tracks make me feel nostalgia, and I never heard them before. It's an effect of good music.

  • @DLcKxFTR how about research instead of watching M(ainstream)TV

  • @ThisIsVice trust me kid, i know what's up. i was only saying how it's a bit fucked up how kids these days have yo go out of their way just to hear some dope music unlike me who got to hear real shit on the radio and tv

  • same sample as Raekwon -Pyrex Vision

  • O.C. the nigga brought that..I used to rock this over and over in my car (had the tape then, so had to rewind and not hit no 'back button')

  • When Some Poser wanna talk about how they know hiphop and don't mention O.C..I call dem a POSER

    Queens, NY

  • Sometimes i really gotta thank God for music like this.

  • Samples are free domain for the most part so its not stealing from other MCs because technically lots of rappers steal from the original artists!

  • @Smo0ochMyGooch

musical artist steal/borrow period, no sense in singling out rappers......and if you get permission its not stealing

  • whats the sample?

  • @Evileater The sampled is J.J. Band - Changing Face. The sample starts at around 1:52 on the original song.

  • real hiphop lives in the heart of real hiphop fans and not 16yr olds!

  • @kay19833 real hip hop fans can be 16 years old

  • @XaniothsEllinas true,

  • @FearDrippingTears thank god some one else noticed i see this dudes comment all the time. The first like five times i might have thought he was sincere but now its annoying...and wtf is allen iverson-jewelz. He dont rap does he?

  • @callmealiaragain Its probably the new age of marketing - social media is becoming a promotion platform...

To answer your question: dont know but dont think so....

  • @callmealiaragain Iverson did rap for a minute...this happened a 10 yrs ago, and david stern disowned it.

  • @FearDrippingTears It's obviously marketing. it's spam and getting annoying.

  • Stress, frust, make me wanna bust

    Make me wanna cuss

I lust, for living a life a righteousness

With invisible forces stand in my way, keeping my mind off course

  • Had this song on tape for years and years and i never knew who the artist was untill now. Growing up to that era of hip hop was unforgetable. I can remember riding the bus home from work jammin to this track. Brings back some youthfull memories.

    Cheers

  • mad underrateddd mc

  • I remember RUSHIN to Media Play to get this joint! CLAS-SICK MATERIAL! '97 was a the beginning of the end for Hip-Hop with all the commercial phase startin to come in but thank God OC was able to bless us with Jewelz before the wackness started to settle in! I used to cut grass to this whole album yo! Sentimental album yo!

  • this a primo beat?

  • @l33tmad Produced by Lord Finesse for Funkyman/D.I.T.C. Productions

  • @l33tmad Lord Finesse produced this gem. D.I.T.C

  • "Semi-wet as I write this, dragging a cancer stick, smoke thick, Hennessey shots to my wig...half-naked while I jot this, lounging in my boxers, dreaming Tahiti...even settle for the Bahamas...I get a boner when I'm asleep, dreaming that I'm lounging on a yacht (chill in the sun) BOOM, bout to leave the docks...

Reality I wake up to, feels like I woke up to a cloud-filled room with angel dust..."

  • @dazeofreality i would agree its just that im on a tight budget and have digged more LPs I want

  • poep is echt

  • This is the last song of the album...that has to be one of the best songs to ever end an album.

  • @Nastradumas 100% AGREE. Heard that Raekwon track sampling the same song. Its bullshit...

  • Comment removed

  • @Daftendirektour Thanks I prefer this OC Jewelz to this. I just think it's a great song to end an album, especially considering how the album is called Jewelz. Raekwon need to get it together.

  • Lord Finesse & OC = GREAT CHEMISTRY

  • @nycblaze Yeah, but Buckwild & OC is a better one.

  • One of my favorite tracks of all time.

  • i have this album. retail

  • One of the greatest MC's of all time.

  • what a wonderful way to end an album. one of my favorite tracks off this great cd. still remains as my favorite o.c. albums.

  • check out my born to live remix!

  • Yo, I never heard this song. It sounds pretty good. Shout out to the 90's. I truly miss that era when hip-hop was authentic.

  • I played this tape the entire summer of '97. Wow, this just takes me back to when people would actually BUY albums. There was a love for the music then. This album was slept on heavy

  • Yeah, I hear you. I didn't sleep on this album, copped the CD, still have it. It is a great album, much skillz. O.C. Jewelz! Peace.

  • Damn, im trying to DL this kant find it.. FUUCKK!!

  • amazing...........

  • O's version is better than rae anyday

  • hell na... chef's is more grimey like his voice

  • real hip hop from da soul

Rhyming is a gift and not a option

    -The Last Emperor

  • nah man, it's jewelz

  • D.I.T.C the illist crew ever! O.C. Jewelz a 4ever underated classic! i put this album upi with nas-illmatic and jay-z reasonable doubt! dope rymes dope beats! what more could you as

    k 4? true m.c.ing a forever lost art!

  • GOT DAMN! I was looking at the production credits for Raekwon's "Pyrex Vision" and came across this track and a song called "Changing Face" by the J.J. Band....this is a slept on classic

  • well the raekwon joint was by marley marl. but i think o c's lyrics makes his more. just more not just because its longer.

  • word!

  • Raekwon version has nothing on this one. OC bodied this one. Classic song classic album.

  • yeah i'd say he bodied this sample but Raekwon's is just so much filthier and gritty. hits a sweet spot. if only it was longer.

  • Truer words have never been spoken about these two songs!

  • @oplzimso1337 first off this version is much crisper and clearer sounding then Rae's version. Secondly I do not wanna hear a whole song about cooking crack! I'll pass homie. I'm 28 and too old to find shit like that interesting. It doesnt move me anymore. The beat on this version just sounds better to me and lyrically I can feel what O is saying. I'm taking O's version over Rae any day.

  • JrHansum, I respect that. I don't wanna hear a bout cookin crack either lol. I just like the lower key and kind of darker feel to it.

  • fucc it. We'll jus agree 2 disagree. Not really feeling Rae's version. But its all good!!!! Props to OC tho. Jewelz is a classic album. 2 cats dat dont got it go get it!!!! Its real hip hop.

  • @JrHansum But it ISNT a whole song... rae's song is only 1 minute long.

The topic isnt important, it's what the poet does with the topic. - both emcees are brilliant

  • @Wobbothe3rd It has 16 bars right? On the album does it say interlude or skit? No. So it's a song in my eyes. And it can be five minutes long. I still like O version better. Dats just my opinion. To me the topic is important. I just didnt feel what he was saying. Its like I said i'm 29. dont wanna hear the coke rap anymore. Especially since its already a cuban linx 1.

  • lord finesse got skillz

  • Love this shit...hot ass CD

  • impressive

  • O.C always RAWKS

  • Raekwon used this beat on pyrex vision

  • Same sample, but different beat.

  • Raekwon's was too short yet STILL SOUNDS WAY BETTER

  • DAMN YOU

  • real shit man real hip-hop konw more kels

  • Beatiful!!:)

  • Realness forever man!!!!

  • This is J.J. Band - Changing Face. Sample is somewhere in 1:50.

"Shed tears for niggaz I knew for life, now lifeless

When u died to us, was like the Iranian crisis " - O.C.

  • pyrex vision - raekwon samples this beat

  • nah same sample not sampled from this beat

  • i can't stop playin CL2, but this here is unbeatable.

  • yeah same here

  • word, rae need to record a longer joint and put ghost on it

  • This album is a straight up classic.
