The reason why that piece of plastic reversed direction when spun around in the clockwise direction and not the other is all due to the shape of the bottom. It is shaped so that it will rock more when spun in the clockwise direction and also in rocking, because of the shape, will create a spinning force in the counterclockwise direction. It all has to do with shape and not anything mysterious like they are trying to assert. The floating "bowling ball" and pliers can also be easily faked.
