Not exactly. Pilots are much happier to fly freight around rather than people any day. Why? Because they don't have to worry about the possibility of being responsible for loss of life, if there were a crash. We(Fed Ex)pay our pilots more than any other airline in the world as well. American used to be #1 until about 6 yrs ago...

While UPS more or less "invented" the Express Delivery concept, FedEx modernized and streamlined it, using airplanes for most longer distance delivery, rather then trucks nearly everything. The only reason UPS is a larger company is that they've been around longer, and have a massive fleet of long-distance trucks. FedEx recently got into the trucking end, and they're catching up fast. UPS is slowly but steadily losing business to FedEx.

Obviously you know very little about the stock market so let me educate you in a simple quick manner. UPS has roughly double the amount of stock out there compared to FedEx. UPS pays a .45 Dividend per share compared to FedEx .11 per share. So while FedEx shares may cost more they are in no way an indicator that FedEx is a more valuable or profitable company. Actually UPS is worth about 3 times as much as FedEx.

Thats because ups has been around longer, but FedEx got into the LTL business 1st, by buying two good companies Viking trucking and American Freightways, and merging the two into FedEx Freight. Ups finally got into the LTL by buying overnight and motor cargo. Both companies not as good as FedEx freight. Someday maybe, but not yet.
