Hey, I currently own an 8gig ipod touch. Do think it is worth it to sell the touch and buy and iphone 3g S?

I would hold on the iPod touch because the battery life on the iphone 3Gs even with disabling all the 3G network and all the push and fetch and notification feature still the battery life runs out fast just to listening to music.

Everyone has their own reasons why they do things. This is like asking someone "Why buy (insert item here) at Wal-Mart when you can order it from Amazon?" Maybe they like being able to walk in and get what they want today instead of waiting for the UPS guy to show up tomorrow, or the next day or the day after that etc. My son's mother ordered her's online and it didn't show up until 3PM Friday. That's 6 hours after I already had mine.

they have the older Juice Pack for the iPod Touch but I don't think they'll release an "air" version until 3rd gen iPod touch is released. I think the 3rd gen touch is going to have a camera, GPS and a mic built in as well as the new digital compass and voice control stuff too.  Guess we'll know come September.

Apple ALWAYS upgrades the iPod lineup in September. That is why they always do those Back to School promos during the summer... to get rid of the old inventory to make way for the new.

The iPod touch's can already use the mic in the Apple Headsets that include the mic. You'd only be able to use apps like Skype to make calls since there is no way to insert a SIM into the iPod touch.

I will definitely be buying the new iPod touch for my son. I'd do an unboxing video in Sept but there wouldn't be another video on it until christmas because I'd be buying it for him as a christmas present. I'd have to open it up before hand anyways so that I could load it all up for him so its ready to go christmas morning. I did the same thing last year with touch 2nd gen.

I'd probably do the unboxing and first impressions of it - like going over the new features and stuff. I have a second gen touch now that I have yet to make a video about. The only thing I don't like about the 2nd gen touch is the screen is noticeably crappy compared to the iPhones (all 3 versions). It has really bad interlacing issues and I don't think its something that would show up well in video. It's something you'd have to see in person.

I'll probably go over them in my 1st week review but the main differences are:

Speed = 3GS has a faster CPU and GPU than the older iPhones

Digital Compass = now Maps will show the direction you are facing instead of always facing North like previous iPhones

Voice Controls = works like the new iPod Shuffle and you can also use it to make calls

Improved Battery Life

and of course the option for 32GB model

other than that, the 3GS looks identical to the 3G
