That was not a very long takeoff roll - pretty average for a 747-400 doing a 12 hr flight. Judging from where they passed the connecting taxiway between the north and south runways, they easily had 4000 feet of runway remaining when they got off. If they were so heavy their climb rate would have been more shallow as well.
AWESOME video! Amazing takeoff, great plane and COOL engine sound! So lucky to be in a 747! I 'll be on it soon! Well done! Excellent job! Rated 5/5 stars for your amazing job! Please sub back!
They are setting climb power - which can be as little as 10 or as much as 20% power reduction. After the flaps and landing gear are retracted, there is less drag and far less power is needed to accelerate. It is done as quickly as practical to preserve engine life as takeoff power settings for long periods of time
increase engine wear and maintenance costs. There is absolutely nothing to be afraid of - the aircraft is still climbing and accelerating even as the power comes down.
Over the U.S. and Atlantic Ocean. The Pacific Ocean and China is unnecessarily long. The flight takes off to the west, then makes several left turns over the west coast until it intercepts the course for Frankfurt, then heads Northeast over the U.S. and Canada and over the Atlantic back to Germany.
Yeah, but the plane has to get up to 180 mph at least before rotation, a much higher speed than other planes. Not to mention, the flight was likely full and heavy with fuel, and the pilot probably requested the full length of the runway. This is often done to save fuel and to extend the life of the plane.
WARNING: please dont read this. 600 years ago a man pulled a shit in a swimming pool. A monster killed him and he now haunts you if you dont copy and paste this to 3 other videos. It is really scary cos my friend got attacked by him because he didnt copy and paste now u really shit urself now didnt ye now?!
There is nothing better than going on a long flight on the 747-400. Its a feeling of such freedom , like you are leaving the world behind . The wing seat is the best because there is NOTHING better than the sound of those jet engines! Love em!
there is a better sound then them engines and for me that is the sound of a formula one engine!!! i mean i cant compare both, and dont get me wrong i love the sound of a 747 but personaly for me f1 sound is Numer UNO LOL!!!!
The old F1 engines sounded better.. you cant beat the growl of the V12. Look up videos of Senna at Monaco . There is a clip of him doing a lap and the sound of that engine.. wooooo . I miss Senna. I miss Schumi too. Masa and Kimi.. zzzzzzz lol Lewis Hamilton is ok but he aint no Schumacher.
Two reasons. Number one, the wind likely favored taking off to the west. Number two, the ocean likely is the best area for it to gain airspeed and altitude before it turns around. LAX is a busy airport. The route I believe is a left turn south down the Pacific Coast for just a small amount of distance and then a left turn to head back over land and in a northeast direction to frankfurt.
How do people take these take-off and landing videos? Every time I try, the flight attendants tell me I can't use my camera during those times in the flight.
Yea, what mobius1aic siad, but they also, depending on the CAT of the flight computers, it can also fly, the aircraft, many pilots use this feature, for the whole flight except for landing and taking off, but in somecases, they can even land using the Flight Computer, the system that does this is called the Autopilot.
Yea me too! a340 cant do that long, back in George Bush Intercontinental Houston I was in a Lufthansa A340-600 going to Frankfurt, Rolls-Royce engines, ur lucky you got to sit in a 747, I dislike most airbus', too much crammed seating
That's not smog. I live in CA Those are overcast skies. LAX is located right at the ocean and there is most likely a marine layer happening. It's obvious there is a lot of moisture in the air, as you can see the moisture vortex forming at the engines in take off. Smog will have a medium brown color, and is usually trapped at lower elevations. It will not go up to the cloud layer.
the white thing is humidity condensating from the air that is being sucked into the engine. when the air is sucked in at high velocity its pressure suddenly drops, causing it to cool and the colder the air the less water vapour it can contain, hence the condensation you see at the engines.
Hey ! I was on the same flight to frankfurt LH451 umh just to be sure, did your flight have an emergency landing in glascow because one of the passenger had an heart attack ?
During Take-Off the engines run in TO/GA mode, which means that the thrust setting is set to the highest possible in the current condition to deliver maximum Take-Off performance. After Take-Off the FMC/VNAV become active, putting the engine into CLB (Climb) mode, which has a reduced thrust setting (this can be set prior take-off, depending on the weight of the aircraft).
FatihFrankfurt you've got no clue. That's how they sound at full thrust. Ever heard a 747-400 growl like that over your head? It's basically the "fan" part of the turbofan engine, they provide about 90% of forward thrust. ;) Ask if you need more info.

Lufthansa only has Business Class seats on the lower deck of the 747.
The First Class seats are on the upper deck.
Like I said before, it was row 14 :).
Trund 4 years ago
May I ask how much you paid for the business class seat? :) Thank you
papabaer123 4 years ago
Nothing :)
I used miles for the flight.
Would of been a little expensive otherwise :).
Trund 4 years ago
How many miles did you need to pull that off?
student5669 4 years ago
Business Class is 90.000 miles for round-trip.
Trund 4 years ago
so, does this 747 not have first class. because, this perspective on the wing is typically row 6, 7 or 8.

Trund 4 years ago

yeah hes right. After take off the pilot reduces the thrust only by a fraction so if you ever hear that on an aircraft don't panic lol
