Peace is the only way in which man can overcome his brutal nature.
I cant think of only a handful of people in the last half a century who werent given it for political purposes. And none of those people are Carter, Gore, Obama, the UN, or the IPFC.
I looked it up on wikipedia and most of what you say is either true or alleged. He was only a man, and yet he was a great man. And now he is more than a man, he is a hero and an idea. He has been sanctified by the good deeds he did, though he, like all of us, has also sinned.

@megagagnon1 MLK wasn't a communist and all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Where is your evidence that he beat up prostitutes, plagiarized or cheated on his wife hundreds of times. To simply submit these as facts does not substantiated them as facts.
@Prosumers All of those things are common knowledge. There are a few wiki articles on MLK. That should prod you in the right direction. There's no question that he plagiarized his dissertation - and he didn't even do a good job on that.
@Prosumers Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s papers were to Stanford University's King Papers Project. During the late 1980s, as the papers were being organized and catalogued, the staff of the project discovered that King's doctoral dissertation at Boston University, titled A Comparison of the Conception of God in the Thinking of Paul Tillich and Henry Nelson Wieman, included large sections from a dissertation written by another student 3 years earlier at Boston University
I had never seen this before. I wish I had the entire video so I could show it to my elementary students. We need to talk about more than his dream; he was iconic! Thank you. Well done.

All the people who have made the usage of the 'N' word equivalent as everyday as saying 'hello' should listen to this speech. They have set the image of black people back 100 years.
ONE OF THE FEW ROLE MODEL FOR THE WORLD. THANK YOU!
Actually the human history is full of repeated crises, wars, violent behaviors, mockery and discriminations of all kind. The solution? Teaching LOVE & COMPASSION. Today 1 billion people live with less $1 a day. The time to read that message one child died because lacking food. PLEASE ACT NOW, ALL TOGETHER. Franck Renand, President, LOOK PACIFIC (NGO).
What the hell does President Obama have to do with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. accepting a noble peace prize? Can we(as americans) view this wonderful peace of cinema as what it is. Our four fathers fought for the same thing! Hence the united states. When the speech was delivered, i could not imagine what was traveling though this mans head. But i can say that we all have the opportunity to distill value and the ability to listen upon future generations. A life lesson so to speak....
I accept the Nobel Prize for Peace at a moment when 22 million Negroes of the United States of America are engaged in a creative battle to end the long night of racial injustice. I accept this award on behalf of a civil rights movement which is moving with determination and a majestic scorn for risk and danger to establish a reign of freedom and a rule of justice. I am mindful that only yesterday in Birmingham, Alabama, our children, crying out for brotherhood, were answered with fire hoses,
If you think President Obama's administration is anything like the previous, then you just don't get what he is trying to do for this country and this world. I can't believe anyone would have the gall to compare these two men or even use their names in the same sentence.
@Bemuzed pretty stupid aren't you? tell us all what obama has actually DONE to reduce war efforts. i don't mean what he's said he'll do or said he's trying to do. i see m to recall, in his own words.. to 'immediately' reduce the military presence...??
Did you listen to President Obama's speech? The U.S.A. cannot just pull out of Iraq and we definitely cannot pull out of Afghanistan.
To answer your question, the Obama administration has done a great deal to mend international relations with the rest of the world. He has done a great deal to gain the trust in the region. He has set a timetable as to how we are going to get out of Iraq. What more do you want? As for the 'stupid' comment, its unnecessary.
obama has set a number of timetables and adhered to none of them. doing exactly the opposite of what he has stated; eg. hiring lobbyists, pulling out of iraq, unlawful wire tapping etc. he is a very good show man and people love him so they do not question him. of course he would never just say 'sorry, changed my mind'
It is a kind of replacement and changing of great sin from nobel peace prize to overcome Gandhi more than five times by chosing Martin Luther king to be the winner of peace prize depending on the same philosophy of Gandhi as a kind of honor to Gandhi for his soul as an evidence of his creative mesage

When he received his award, instead of talking about himself, he spoke for his cause of justice and equality.
He was very devoted to peace.
