  • Curious that this clip leaves off Goodall's closing comments just seconds after it fades out. Some might even call it misleading:

"Of course, the big, the big criticism of all this is, 'Where is the body?' You know, why isn't there a body? I can't answer that, and maybe they don't exist, but I want them to."

Note that her final words on the subject are "maybe they don't exist, but I want them to."

    You be the judge.

  • @firstdarkdrama i noticed that too. why cut that part out?

  • Comment removed

  • And I AM amazed to hear her say that they exist, because in the late 1980s I saw Leaky speak and he said they don't exist. He said they were in the realm of legend and myth.

  • @coursestudent I watched a show on NG channel about this & they did some very scientific comparisons using the original footage from Patterson Gimlin that his wife let them enhance with new technology. (Something she has never allowed) It was pretty amazing, It showed that it couldn't be a costume because you can see muscle ripple movements in the shoulder blades, thighs, ect. A lot more comparisons that there's not enough space here for. Very compelling evidence not to be dismissed as hoax.

  • @1687hernandez I hope it's real. I'd love for Bigfoot to exist. But I saw a documentary with that man, I think Heronimous is his name, and he claime to be in the suit. He had a walk which was just like the Bigfoot walk. I want Bigfoot to be true, but I don't want to be blinded by my optimism. I suppose what I'm saying is, I'm skeptical BECAUSE I hope it is real, if that makes any sense.

  • @coursestudent I found the videos here on You Tube for the show I watched. This is the name of the first one - National Geographic's American Paranormal: Bigfoot 1 of 5 Watch all 5 . Also if this is a man made costume, I always wondered what made them make Bigfoot a female. In the film footage that they enhanced, it clearly shows breasts. You would think that a detail like that wouldn't have been considered. hmmm, makes me wonder.

    t have been

  • People that don't think Sasquatches exist should read "North America's Great Ape: The Sasquatch" by John A. Bindernagel who is a wildlife biologist

Also read the story about Albert Ostman which you can easily find on google

  • Its just funny how internet haters say bigfoot is just a big joke, and one of the greatest primetolog ever, hawe no doubts that those animals are real. She hawe true knowlage about wildlife, not from books but from own research

  • GP party was moving at full walk and the speed of her gait was just fast twice as fast as a human. Nice video of Dr. Jane

  • People have such a hard time believing an ape could live I Canada and the US for some reason

  • Whats the deal with bigfoot? really! It's as near as I can tell a very large mountain gorilla that walks up right... Missing link perhaps? okay there's one possible reason it could be considered taboo.... guh... oh creationists... sigh...

  • @harveyblackheart That's interesting. It had never occurred to me that creationists may not like bigfoot. But then they also may not like UFOs, etc. Somewhere along the line, Bigfoot got lumped in with UFOs, dinosaurs, the paranormal, etc. I think that this "lumping" is what has made it a taboo subject. I think most scientists shy away from the topic for this reason.

  • It's funny that it's considered such a taboo/ridiculous subject when really all were talking about here is an undiscovered species of ape. Not time travel or a dinosaur left behind in a lock in Ireland but an ape... I don't know...

  • @harveyblackheart I think the number of popular hoaxes (such as the Patterson film shown in this video) makes it a taboo topic for scientists. For comparison, I know the indigenous of Africa had legends about the Mountain Gorilla, but I don't think anyone was making hoaxes of it all. I think the indigenous just knew about the Mountain Gorillas, and then one day a scientist found them, and the indigenous claims were accepted. Bigfoot is still unproven yet has become a part of pop culture.

  • @coursestudent: True dat. I still think it's funny though that the subject is quite as taboo (or ridiculous to speak of in public) as it is today. It doesn't seem so far fetched. There are tons of undiscovered species out there. 6,969 species were discovered in 2006 alone according to a report compiled by Arizona State University's International Institute for Species Exploration..

  • @dfssjlk the pg film is no suit of any kind

  • @dfssjlk

haha u are riducules, she knows more about wildlife than anyone, she is legend,She's opinion is worth more than opinion of milion haters like u,ppl that hawe all they're knowlage from tv and internet. If some 1 can tell that those animals real, are ppl that do ressearch in field, not morons that sit on ass and dont do nothing more than hate

  • I am a believer! Look at the mouth and eyes on the closeup.

  • I am a believer!

  • i see a ass crack look close!

  • Yep. She's too tall also to be fake basically, 7ft probably, so her proportions prove her the real thing such as her much longer torso. So how would a guy inside reach up there, only gullible gits believe that because it's what they've been told or brought up to believe. If you study the footage you're likely to quickly realize it couldn't be a hoax, as you'd never get you own shoulders up there to have that long arms swing naturally from that wide a back, etc. I'm 99% convinced it's a real BF.

  • Watch the movement of the wrists and hands.... If it was a man in a suit with extenders and fake arms/hands they would NOT move like that.

  • sera que e verdade

  • @paulinha1987ify Jane Goodall parece pensar que é.

  • I'm on a BigFoot binge right now... listen to what Ms Goodall was saying in this clip... She's a romantic so she WANTS them to exist... at NO time does she admit to their existence. Most things are possible... some just more highly unlikely than others. Is it possible for Bigfoot to exist, yes... is it likely, no. Even experts make mistakes ... and if you'll notice, for every scientist and PhD that says Bigfoot exists, there are 10 that say not!

  • @MadMaxx63 look people dont want it to exsist cause it will call all there beliefs into question. and god forbid we humans dont know about somthing. we have become so arrogant we actually believe we know everything about our planet and it exosystems fuck me really? new species are discovered all the time. before jane goodall gorillas were a myth only talked about by natives. wake up people anyone who knows anything knows they know nothing at all. Im gonna settle this shit once and for all.

  • @MadMaxx63 she just said that she is sure that they exist, which is interesting because she is a leading authority on primates. I would have guessed she would say the opposite.

  • Bigfoot is soooo freakin real

  • Maybe someone can explain his shoes?

  • you know thats really a gorrilla in his or her evoultion form to human and its NOT bigfoot !

  • Nobody goes white when think bigfoot might be real, because essentially, bigfoot would be a large ape. That's not especially frightening.

  • @cunnidvd I am sorry friend, but there are several eye witness reports, so you sir, are the arrogant moron. The Patterson-Gimlin footage was NEVER proven to be a hoax, and in fact, just recently an episode of "American Paranormal" aired, with an hour special of Bigfoot. They had scientists analyze the footage for months, and went into great detail with Hollywood motion artists into bringing in a 7 foot guy to try and imitate the movement. At the end, their verdict was that it WAS NOT a man.

  • Comment removed

  • @cunnidvd Okay, I thought you meant some harm, thought you were against him. People are so close minded today. I swear people would still believe in spontaneous generation today if it was acepted by he majority of the people. They're all very ignorant. I bet 98% of the world's population thinks gorillas were "discovered" hundreds of years ago, when they were discoverd as recent as 1879, in North Africa. People back then were all skeptics of the gorilla's existence, just like the sasquatch today.

  • @ExistenceOfBigfoot, I'm terribly sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but Mr. Patterson made a confession on his death bed that the bigfoot film was a hoax. A Mr. Heironimus was inside the gorilla suit, to which he finally admitted.

That being said, I know bigfoot lives. When I was a child, my family was called to witness the footprints and destruction at a logging camp. Only something very large and strong could have thrown full 55 gallon drums of diesel over the top of a... Continued

  • @elsiebea Patterson never said anything like that. you may be thinking of the deathbed confession of the guy that made the famous lock ness monster film, but Patterson swore till his death that he filmed a real sasquatch and Gimlin still says the same thing to this day. Boob Herroneous is an erroneous boob.

  • @ExistenceOfBigfoot Cont. ...Caterpillar tractor, or had feet so huge. This was in a logging camp in N. California, quite a few years ago.

I don't need anyone's films or eye witness corroboration, it matters not if no one else believes, I know the truth. I know what I saw, and it was unforgettable. There will always be naysayers, let them say nay. Reality is reality, like it or not. It's just fine with me if no one believes me or anyone else; fewer people hunting him that way.

  • This guy sounds like one of those idiot hosts who constantly talk and dont know how to shut the hell up when the so called guest is speaking...constantly cutting in with unimportant jibberish.

  • When she said "I'm sure they exist" that idiot stopped laughing pretty quick.

  • when the white men arrived they spoke of big hairy race of indians that lived high up in the mountain tops and deep in the woods, but after talking to the indians the indians told stories of sasquatches eating fish from their nets raw and screaming at night.

  • Consider it no animal then, seymour... -Then you've answered your own question.

  • Once again comparing bigfoot to a known animal is a common ploy to validate bigfoot. The panda was reported. Scientists collected and studied samples. Pandas proven. Bigfoot on the other hand has been yammered about for hundreds of years with not a shred found to prove it is real. Why not believe in unicorns too?

  • @seymourbbest I heard mountain gorrillas were a part of folklore as far back as ancient Greece and the megamouth shark was discovered as recently as 1976. It's more scientific to either verify or disprove the existence of such creatures rather then just disregard them as myth. Even after gorrillas were discovered certain myths continued. The fact is if this film is fake the evidence would be apparent with the new technology but apparently it isn't.

  • Oh, really...nooo? No. lol

  • this video is always so obviously fake, especially close up when it looks like it slauntered directly out of the wilds of a costume wardrobe.

  • That these creatures are humanlike in more ways that mere appearance, is supported by primatologist Esteban Sarmiento's views. Google his name and 'primatologist: If Bigfoot exists, it's not an ape' for the statesman site article.

  • Seymour, I believe this is all very simple - the answer how they can and do hide. Human. Human's the answer, tall and smaller brain thus less intelligent, child level perhaps. Similar beings are all over this planet it would seem, in Russia, in Indonesia, in China, etc. Hominids. Hiding from the likes of you and I, for very obvious reasons.

  • @seymourbrest

So I suppose the myriad plaster castings are "not a shred?" Or the numerous still shots. Or the few actual videos. Not to mention the hundreds of years worth of reported Bigfoot sightings. All of that is "not a shred?" Are you aware that the giant panda was once legend as well? People who spoke of it were also ridiculed.

  • Who said anything about thousands? There are shreds of evidence. You have alot of innaccuracies in your reply.

  • Now people are trashing Dr. Jane Goodall opinions on large primates? WOW.

  • they'll never find bigfoot because jane goodall's hiding them for their protection.

  • Jane Goodall is a great woman, I believed it's real before I listened to this.

  • This is one of the few comments that make sense

  • Yes, those saying there's no ass crack...I mean, what kind of crack are they on? We shouldn't expect some big floppy butt on a hairy creature all muscles.

  • yea tru and look at some primates that dont have asscheeks to speek of

  • have you noticed the ass crack really look for it! its there... do monkey suites have cracks

  • Ha, screw P&T, they're probably the idiots trolling all YT Bigfoot clips at the moment...

  • It's fun to make fun of idiots still thinking this is a suit, there's so much we have found in this film already that proves as good as it gets, that this is not a fake. People love Halloween, people love Hollywood and monster movies, it's so far up their behinds it's actually THEM unable to spot the differences anymore. Plus, they still believe what mommy said about no monsters, and what the tabloids exploit, how can they NOT be skeptics. And then it's difficult to see outside the box...

  • Actually it is good to be sceptical komodo...the problem here is they dont know when to accept proof because they think sceptical means immovable.

  • @Poe397 nice

  • That loose screw's a real prick you're discussing with there, Callum. Sad these ignorant noobs are allowed to roam freely... They talk so much crap it's amazing their parents haven't locked them up, or killed them yet, they couldn't tell their butt from a hole in the ground - much less create a suit. These assclowns aren't thinking ahead, they think it's sooo easy, then why hasn't it been done... Because it's impossible. And sticking a guy inside, same 'suit' shape and operating it. Clueless.

  • To those who claim that it's a suit, I present a challenege. Using only materials available in the 60s, recreate the suit. 40 years later and no one - NO ONE - has been able to recreate the suit. If it's, to quote Stan Wilson, "a bad fur suit" then why has no one been able to make another?

  • dude, we sent a man on the moon in the sixties, you dont think we'd be able to recreate a fucking suit, you retard

  • So why has no one done it? Why did John Chambers or Wah Chang or anyone else alledged to have made the suit never recreate the suit - even just to prove that they could. When Chambers made a full body ape suit for Beneath the Planet of the Apes, why did it look like crap compared to the "suit" in the PGF? Why could Carlo Rimbaldi not make a suit for King Kong 76 that looked as good as the "suit" in the PGF?

Oh, and by the way, grow up and stop calling people retards.

  • you're a fucking retard, as childish as i may sound calling you that, i cant help it

the argument you're trying to make is so fucking ridiculous

i could make a fucking better suit using 60's shit, but this argument is so stupid why even try to prove it, because the only ppl that believe in this nonesense are fucking morons, so i wont even argue with a moron i'll just let you live in blissful ignorance

  • If you think you could make a better suit using "60's shit" then go ahead. Keep in mind it'll need musle movement under the skin, unnaturally long arms, finger flexion and the person in it will need to be able to walk like the creature ion the PGF at 18fps - not 24. Also worthwhile to keep in mind while you're making it is the fact that the BBC couldn't recreate the suit and John Chambers couldn't recreate the suit. But I'm sure you'll be able to.

  • Callum,..are you new to these channels? It seems to me you are not familiar with their arguments against the PGF and you are attempting to use logic and intelligent reasoning.

  • fag

  • sounds like you just realized you have no argument for this stupid belief and all you could say is "fag" oh wow

  • well said, and to counter peoples stupid remark saying "If bigfoot exists why dont people see them" well people see them all the goddam time and there is always reports from credible sources yearound.

  • Pen & Teller "Bullshit" Cryptozoology episode. Season 6, I believe.

  • You're wrong, kid, it wasn't a hoax - the hoax was the claim it's a hoax! Don't believe everything you see on Fox and other tabloids...

  • ddue this is a hoax guranteed i sae this before on t.v. they proved it was a hoax it was all a setup i sware

  • Comment removed

  • this is so fucking fake at the begginging its walking just like a man. LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is pathetic.

  • If another ape were also a biped like we are, just how would IT walk...??

  • climbing trees and cliffs would be kids play for a big foot, being so big and presumably extremely strong in the upper body... but if they do, it would make sense to look for their remains at the bottom of ravines, etc., because I'm sure occasionally one would take a mis-step, and fall to its doom...

  • I have to comment here. If you take a little time to research gorillas you would find out that when they are young they swing through the trees like monkies but as they grow, they become so heavy that they cannot do this anymore and spend most of their adult lives on the ground. Even though their upper body strength is far greater then younger apes, the adults just weigh too much for the trees to support their weight. I think bigfoot would be far to heavy for it to be able to climb a tree.

  • Another comment that makes sense and has factuall evidence,i mean, i'm ten and i know this.

  • THX!!! At least there's one other person here with some brains.

  • I just read Paulides' Hoopa book, and it mentions the possibility that Bigfoot - whenever followed or tracks ending - simply climb the trees and hide up there. Possibly move through them like the alien in Predator. Humans climb trees, why not Bigfoot, they climb steep and rocky hills and everything too. Would also be a good reason why people often feel they're being watched but see no one, rocks flying from nowhere, etc. Just an explanation.

  • and emin still needs mental help.

  • you need mental help emin. lol

  • you need mental help emin. lol

  • It's no joke, the missing link a joke? That's what I think this is, it's the only thing that makes any sense anymore, large 'dumb' animals don't elude mankind for centuries. We're in for a shock, it looks and behaves too human-like, this interests Goodall. It eluded us for a long time, but time is slowly running out, it's just a matter of time before it's proven real. A bit sad also, not that the mystery's over, but sad because then the Sasquatch's problems may just have begun.

  • People not uncommonly laugh and scoff at bigfoot, and yet will go three shades of white when they hear someone like Jane Goodall takes this seriously. How do you reconcile the disparity between what is held to be a redneck myth with one of the world's most respected research scientists in primatology? Personally, it is only because Dr. Goodall takes this seriously that I can entertain the notion that bigfoot just might be real. If it were a joke, this woman ought to know.

  • good comment

  • I believe in bigfoot. Of course, when I tell people they mock me and say I'm an idiot.

  • @Silverterror i quite agree

  • @thejackal7137 no...people laugh and scoff at people like you who believe everything they hear!

  • im gona call that #

  • its weird how native Americans have seen this big foot and yeti for along time yet its never been caught alive or dead how odd

  • Last summer it was revealled that there were lowland gorillas that had eluded discovery in the Congo...100,000 of them...how odd...

  • Given the culture in which they have been brought up, it seems to fit quite well. Native American beliefs are laced with supernatural tales relating to natural phenomena, so adding Sasquatches in with the other fleet of supernatural figures would be a logical step in that position. This, of course, doesn't mean that any of it is true. As I noted before, many of them do indeed see the creature, and some report interactions with it (some guy shoots it, it runs of, then throws rocks that night.)

  • Yes...Aboriginal people did see them...however infrequently...they even have Sasquatches depicted on totem poles..whisch begs the question..."How did an Indian carver aquire a working knowledge of an apes facial morphology over 200 years ago...?"

  • yo this has got to be a real animal. the big foot if it was a man in a costume it would have stopped and announced it. look how calmly its walking

  • I'm reading a book by Jeffrey Schwartz (a primatologist) and he said that a large number of people in his field, to his great surprise, believe that a few ancient apes/primitive humans still exist. Their numbers are so few, since they are holdouts from a species evolution has phased out over the years, and are probably on their way to extinction.

It sure is a neat thought though. I almost hope we never catch one, because I'm sure we'd make its life miserable. We humans are good at that.

  • Very many primatologists believe that there is a possibility that these animals may exist...it's only a brave handfull that will actually go on record to state this opinion...read Krantz and Meldrum's work to see two such brave men.

  • yeah and im an brain dective

  • Oh yeah, and you know this how, professor...?

  • They're awfully large; twice a

    hefty as our fattest women.

  • 1:52 & 2:11

Look at those killer dance moves.

  • Pause it at 2:06 and look at that face! That is creepy as hell. I have always believed this to be real. Here we are in 2008 and supposed to be alot further advanced than the 60's but we still can't emulate this video with the best special effects pros.

  • She mentioned possible scientific evidence by acknowledging hairs found that do not, as of yet, correspond to those belonging to any recognized species on earth. Regardless of whether or not you believe in the existence of these primates, she was offering a scientific foundation for her beliefs.

  • Yeah, it's madness. Glad to know ppl out you are out there who actually think, instead of living on pure "educated" arrogance.

  • If it's a "human with hypertrichosis" then this human is HUGE! If it's a costume they somehow have calf and thigh muscles that are shown flexing...there is only one alternative...

  • Yeah well, I'm not disagreeing w/you, just saying that the planet is alive, and it cools and warms in periods/cycles that we can't be so presumptuous as to pretend to understand.

Ppl have been lead to believe that the earth is heating up due to human lifestyle, and if we simply buy "green" products/live "green", the problem will be solved. It's crazy, not only that, it's been turned into a total marketing strategy.

  • Yeah for real...I live in CALIFORNIA, trust me, I know all about that. But the theory of global warming is not as to IF it's happening, but WHY.

  • I agree with you. I did not know it was being taught as fact. Scary.

  • How is it now fact? I think this creature is spiritual straight-up.

  • Now if its coming from Jane Goodall then there must be something happening in North American and the rest of the world with bigfoot.

  • She clearly said she is a romantic and always hoped they exist.

  • These mystery apes must be more intelligent than all the rest to keep themselves so well hidden. Maybe

  • I think we're dealing with closer to human intelligence than known wildlife intelligence or behaviour. If you compare facts to known primates with sighting reports a correlation begins to unfold.

  • It doesn't have to be overly intelligent to stay hidden. All animals are experts at staying hidden when they want to be,it is part of survival. Not saying that they aren't intelligent, but it is not a requirement of staying hidden. And lets face it, if they were always hidden we would not be aware of their presence at all....

  • Where is the butt crack on a bear? Are bears fake too?

  • good point i didn't thnk of tht

  • I dont have it handy, buy the guy who did the enhanced pics (2:00) has a web site. there is a frame with a big ole deep cleavege butt crack. lol.

  • bigfoot encounters dot com

  • Great sound clip... anybody know what radio show this was?

  • NPR's weekly radio show Talk of the Nation, their "Science Friday" episode with Ira Flatow. I'd never heard this one before.

  • Plenty of evidence, and plenty of land left indeed.

  • Not even close to true. There are millions of acres of wilderness not touched by man to this day. There are sightings everyday, tracks cast everyday. Ever been to Washington state? There are pleanty of places to hide.

  • And she's 100% in the no-kill camp, the only sensible place to be, screw those who say kill it to prove it.

  • Jane Goodall's opinion is certainly valid, much more credible than this famous footage.

  • No vote for that idea, we've come futher and beyond that, we proved the gorilla that way once. No need anymore to kill, especially when we're talking about a bipedal being, you'd have a lot of explaining to do...

  • These animals almost certainly exist. There is a lot of definite evidence that points towards the continued existance of these animals. The animal in this picture is huge. I stood next to a life-sized poster of this particular creature (blown up to 7' tall). Its arms were thicker than my legs and its legs were much larger than my 36" waist. The length of it's arms measured from the top of my head down to almost my knees. Massive creature with un-human proportions.

  • The radio interviewer is a knob.

  • Piss off this is real!

  • I would not compare this to UFOs, completely different. An unknown species on earth is different than alien phenomena. and anyways, it looks so grainy because it is zoomed so much.

  • Most credible commentary and Patteson film breakdown I have ever heard and seen.

  • i noticed something kinda interesting. Look at the bottoms of the feet at the beginning when they slow it down. It looks real as hell to me... based on what i know id say its real, but i guess only one person knows for sure, Roger patterson and hes dead.

  • Yeah, her feet look real, cuz they ARE REAL! Notice how thick and powerful her ankles look! If you can find the whole clip you can see her feet bottoms as she enters the treeline...they are EXACTLY the same feet that Patterson is holding up in plaster casts not 45 minutes later!!!

  • so fucking real, proof 101

  • nice tits lol i belive it but i dont think thast 10ft

    tall

  • According to the North American Science Institute, it is about 7' 3-1/2" tall.

  • As much as science wants a live body or a corpse, I think the best evidence for the existence of Bigfoot, will remain footage. In time, we're bound to see an even better video capture than PGF (which is still the best), may not satisfy science but it'll satisfy many of us. If the footage is good enough, up close and nice body shots, it should settle the deal.

  • Real as it can get.
