  • yea jus got mine today cant wait to mess wit it

  • you were talking about magic lantern firmware.. this isn't available for 7d correct?

  • Which model of lilliput do you use???

  • and why do you think that little monitor cant change the world?

  • It's an Asian brand pronounced (hay-er) I wish I bought it at $44! Darn!

  • I just checked on eBay and the cheapest one was $79.99. I got lucky today though and picked one up locally from a guy who advertised in the paper. Just $40. Works great!

  • Now, it's $130.

  • does it do PAL and NTSC?

  • HELP... I bought the haier monitor but when I connected on my Sony NEX5 i did not get video or sound. The Sony Nex5 is a mini HDMI. So, I bought a RCA video component to HDMI and an mini HDMI to HDMI adapter. Please, anybody ever tried to connect that monitor on a Sony NEX? Thank you

  • What is the best way to go from mini hdmi on my 60d to the component cables. is there a cable that can do this? I see boxes but is there a cable? IF so where? Thanks

  • @MrDrumdemon101 Hello. I think I am having the same problem that you are. My Sony nex 5 is Mini HDMI, I bought a Mini HDMI to HDMI adapter and a HDMI to RCA component video cable. Did not get any image or sound. HELP......

  • Even used its 60

  • @ShadowManV3 Yeas the price has really shot up over the last 5 months. I've seen it priced as high as $120.

  • @onelonedork Yeah it sucks

  • its 100 :(

  • Seems to be gone :(

  • What cable do you use to connect it to the 5d mark ii? Red, white, Yellow cable to 3.5 jack or R,W,Y cable to USB?

  • Comment removed

  • lol. thanks for being entertaining

  • I use a HAIR monitor while shooting. It is a pile of crap compared to an expensive LCD playback viewer...but If I could afford those, I would have them. It doesn't put out very accurate color, but to see what I am doing while run and gun filming, it is great. I got mine new (on sale) for just under $80.

  • this monitor is a pile...

  • Where are you seeing this for $44?!?!?!

  • Great vid, thanks!

  • Sad puppy

  • It bugs me how he has a beard in the entire video, and then it magically disappears at the end.

  • o by the way the Haier monitor is now running at $109.00 !

  • $44 is for a refurbished version !!!

  • can you use any other type of monitor for the canon?

  • can you recharge the battery?

  • Tried finding it for $44, no such luck :( Its going for 90

  • hey I ve been looking all over for this cable>>> where did you get it?? I purchase one from ebay__ but the usb was to small..... (I have the rebel T3___ and The HAIER monitor) any suggestion for it to work>>>>> thankx

  • I have a video production business and was using a portable DVD player for my monitor. When I saw this last year for $50.00 at Christmas I purchased 2 of them. The greatest thing is most monitors have an adapter so you need a female to female connector. This I just plug the video out from my camera. I do not use the audio from the monitor. I plug directly into my camera. Also it has a 12 volt plug. Get the cheapest battery buddy and you can use it for hours.

  • @vidcreations What exactly is a battery buddy?

  • @sargdesigns Google "Battery Booster Pack". You plug it into the wall and charge it up. It has a deep cycle 12 volt battery inside.

  • Yea it's $100, but some dealers on Amazon are selling it for $50 and up.

  • Que valor tiene este Monitor?

  • Just found the monitor for $38 at techstore4u

  • Comment removed

  • seems to be $100 not 44

  • I only see it for about $100 on amazon and ebay, dunno where you found it for 44...

  • @experimentORIGINAL I bought one from Amazon for $50 about a year ago... the price seems to have jumped back up. I was looking for the link to share with you, but it doesn't seem like it'll be anything you haven't seen before.

  • @experimentORIGINAL yeah well it was on amazon and ebay... prices change by the week...

  • @experimentORIGINAL Price shot way up since tis video was posted March of last year.

  • Really helpful video, just what I was looking for, subscribed!

  • found one at the pawn shop new in box for $40 baby!

  • you cant recharge the battery?

  • @iamthedirector Yup! It's just handy if you're out in the field without a 110 outlet to have one pre-charged.

  • I've had good luck with my Haier 7" but truthfully the picture is garbage. It's good enough for the job but you get what you pay for! Just wish it had a more secure mounting point, I ran a tap into the bottom threads but it still feels a little unsafe.

  • what cable do I use if i have the t3?

  • @PreachTheMinister The mini-usb to RCA jack cable...

  • hey! i really need some help with something about this monitor...i just purchased this monitor and i like it but i just recently updated my 60d firmware and installed magic lantern. however, when i try to plug the monitor into my 60d it says no signal but it works fine with the memory card(with magic lantern) is not in it...I NEED HELP! thanks!

  • @ACousinsFilm turn off audio monitoring

  • @webbombing how do i do that? haha sorry i just got magic lantern. Thanks for helping me out!

  • More expensive now:(

  • How do you 'run a tap' to make it work with 1/4 20 ? Is it tough to do and what exactly do you need? I ordered this and should have it in a few days.

Thanks again for all your vids. They're all very helpful!

  • this moniter will work on canont3???

  • Will this work on a Rebel T1i ??

  • I hit the link and the price is $119!! WTF!

  • @GingerSnapsPhoto Amazon jumps a lot with pricing. I just clicked it and its $109. Just keep in mind if they went that low once, its bound to happen again.

  • Can you please answer me this question:With the magic lantern firmware can you use the monitor with a LCD view finder simultaneously.

  • it's almost $100 now :(

  • Hey ONELONEDORk..i so i just got this monitor .. its xctly how you discribed it. you the best Dude lol but i got a qustion.. when i press record on my Dslr.. the screen on the Haier blacks out..how can i fix thaT PLEASE RESPOND

  • You make awesome video! The lighting and crispness is off the hook

  • can you please recommend an adapter to connect the monitor to the leg of a tripod because im using the tripod for a jib

  • Nice video! Thanks a lot! On minute 1:43 you show the volume bar on the monitor. Trully says, cannot find the same with my Hair... I use 5DMII with the standard cable (Yellow-White-Red). While capturing the video I don't hear any sound through the Hair and no any sound bar appeares. But when I play the clip on 5DMII through the Hair I can hear the sound. Did you switch smth. in your camera and/or on Hair to have a sound and such a bar when capturing? Thank you!

  • funny they said it was 4 pounds when i ordered it, i guess they pocketed the change

  • For like the D5100, do you have to have the camera's LCD open as well when using this or can it be closed and will it only output to the monitor?

  • i bought Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV with hot shoe adapter. When the item is attached while video recording on my canon 550d it has a slight interference. Any tips how to reduce or remove the interference?

  • I like how in less then 2 weeks, the price of this item went up from 59.95 to 99.95, What a country week live in...Not your fault Onelonedork, just the American way i suppose. Let us know if any other door-buster-deals come up!

  • I don't see it for $44 anywhere.. maybe a change of the video title would be appropriate..

I also wish you would have talked about 'how bad' the quality is when stretched to widescreen. It can't be that good using the RCA cables.

DId you buy this product, or did you get sent the product?

  • 99 bucks now :(

  • will this work with a d5000

  • thank you

  • 60 bucks now

  • is the battery rechargeable?

  • Will this work with the Nikon D7000? If not, do you have any recommendations for what monitors will work with it, & what monitors work best for APC - non- full frame sensors? If you could let me know, I'd really appreciate it, thank you...

  • Amazon are stupid - the reason the seller said 3 lb - was to frig the dumb Amazon shipping rate mechanism

  • This thing works with video cameras too...like canon xh a1s ? .Thnx

  • Great video. Keep seeing these on eBay but never can tell which cheap monitors have threads on the bottom for mounting and which don't.

  • its higher lulz

  • @onelonedork Hi, if I am using a T3i with Magic Lantern installed, will audio monitoring with this monitor work on a T3i as well?

  • just got this in a crane kit. a few reviews have said that this tv has died within a few months of owning it. is yours still running fine? thanks.

  • i have those headphones

  • I guess it's like higher. haaier

  • Thanx for showing this cheap option of monitor. Nice tip.

But please.. your "Subscribe Call" is terrible.. Urgh

  • does using a monitor disable the built in monitor?

  • It's pronounced HIGHER haha

  • The wide screen mode it just stretch the image or it's different?

  • Good vid, what editing software you use?

  • i will be able to monitor audio with a nikon d7000?

  • Pretty nice review, although, it would have been nicer if you'd actually had a subject that was in focus. Focus, is the main reason for getting an external monitor. This review shed no light on that capability.

  • Pronounce higher i believe

  • HAhaha ! Love the intro ! "So ahablableglahage"

  • How can u connect this to a HD camera like the NEX-VG10??

  • Heads up on mounting this monitor! The treading is not compatible with the standard bolts that are found on US equipment which is more coarse (few threads) per inch. I think I found a bolt that will work, but I almost ruined my original mount by over cranking it....monitor works great and since the feed from the T2i is not HD, the resolution is fine as well.

  • u forgot to mention what kind of cable to use to connect to 5 or 7d

  • @boolagotbeats It's listed in the blog post link at in the info section. Most of the cameras have the cable included.

  • @onelonedork i got mine used,so i didnt get any cables..i cant find it in the info..can u tell me please,thank you

  • @onelonedork AVC-DC400ST Stereo AV Cable..is that it? i only need it for the video input, can i use a video to mini usb cable?

  • @boolagotbeats The 7d t2i and 60d us the AVC-DC400 if you get the ST version it ends up being about $20 more. If you have the 5d the cable is Canon STV-250N. Hope that helps.

  • Do they ship this to the UK? Also, stupid question, does it include a charger?

  • @MattexFilms2006 Yes and yes.

  • @onelonedork Okay thanks, also, I want to try and mount this to the bottom of my steadicam by replacing one of the weights with it. They use 1/8th" screws (guessing) ALso I want to angle it up so it is not facing forward, any idea how I can do this?

  • can i use it on my new canon 60 d? and what other items should i purchase from amazon to be able to hook this up to my canon 60d? and can i charge the battery that comes with it? how can i get an extra battery? thanks dude. please reply soon.

  • ha, ha! you're funny dude. thanks for all your time and effort in all you do to help us out.

  • I just bought it. So guys what kind of cable you use to connect this monitor to DSLR?

  • Hi, thank you so much for this info. Can I use this monitor for pole aerial photography (not video) where I use the monitor to view what my camera is seeing from 20' up in the air? I'm not interested in using the monitor as a video monitor but being able to see what my photos will look like before I click them. ? Thank you so much.

  • Any alternative for users in the UK?

  • For the price it's fine, but honestly, I can't see recommending a standard def monitor when just about everyone is recording in high def.

  • @baljot1231 Well the 550D while recording output is only 480p I believe so there's no point paying more for 1080p monitor if the camera won't be outputting while recording anyway.

  • I need one for my ps3!! Good bye android hello $100!

  • Hi ! I live in France, and I planning buying one ! But do you think, maybe, if it will 100% works with my 550D ? I'm only scared for PAL version of my DSLR, thank you !

  • @Prods93 works (:

  • were did you get the hot shoe thingy connected to the montior

  • I had the 10.2" version which had a much higher resolution and more even lighting, however the inputs were very noisy, meaning if there was high contrast images being viewed, the light spots would ghost or echo over to the dark. Very annoying! I traded it for the 7" shown in this video.

The threads at the bottom are metric, but are very close. Definitely chase your threads.

  • @blickblocks Good to know.

  • According to Brett Okamoto of ESPN, judges for future UFC cards (at least in Nevada) will have these on hand to supplement the naked eye view:

  • I bought it and it's an OK monitor. For the price you can't go wrong. It always looks a little darker in the monitor even if it is actually perfect. Also, It makes a high pitched hissing noise when it's turned on. Even though there are all these cons. If you dont have a monitor but need one cheap... This works fine.

  • @Fear509 The high pitch hissing is a little unnerving. Mine doesn't do that.

  • @onelonedork i just bought these from amazon, its a july 2009 version (uses 12v power supply, 7.2v battery) had dead pixels so im returning it, but it also had the bad 1/4" threading messed up so I think its the same model as the one in your video. The replacement unit they sent is a september 2009 version, threads came fixed, has one dead pixel but it does have a high pitched noise coming from the battery like @Fear509 mentioned, so i think its just some circuit they changed thats causing that

  • A really great and informational review..thanks alot.

just one question..how do you charge the battery

    PS. i just subscribed

    Greetings from The Netherlands

  • @michielvanzummeren Plug the wall adapter into the monitor and plug the other end into the monitor. Leave the unit off, amber light is charging, green light is charged.

  • does this come witha shoe mount on it or do you have to alter it like the smaller verison?

  • @BeatMuzikSquad It has a 1/4 20 whole on the bottom. You can adapt it to a friction arm.

  • Can you get a recharger pack for the battery. I don't want to keep buying $20 batteries when it runs out.

  • What hotshoe mount did you use for this mounting?

  • Do you have any short films or other productions online?

  • @DeANDRADEatUF A few of the feature length films I've worked on can be rented from Amazon and so on. However none of them are free, sorry.

  • Where can i buy a second battery for this monitor?

  • @JippaLippa Looks like the batteries from Haier are sold out on amazon and ebay. I've got an adapter coming in the next week to try and rig this up for a better battery. I'll keep you posted.

  • battery life 2 hours max..... could you do a battery hack for the haier monitor?

  • Hey dude... I see you reviewing a lot of nice monitors and stuff. I have the 550D and the 60D cameras and I understand that the monitor's resolution output of the 60D and the 550D drops to a much lower resolution. How much does that affect your focusing?

Another question, if you have the budget and the time, will you look at the Zacuto EVF and/or the Cinedroid viewfinder thingy? Should be interesting.

Thanks for all the reviews and info, it is very useful to me.

  • where did you get the wires for it at? the HDMI to RCA?

  • @Loe33 The cable comes with your camera. It's a usb to RCA adapter. The cable is called a avc-dc400st.

  • the quality on mine ic crap. is that just what i get for 50 bucks? Im saving for a lilliput

  • @trainlova12 some have had problems with there cables. $50 doesn't by you amazing, just usable.

  • Are those batteries rechargeable? Sorry I havent seen those before. Im living on the other side of the planet.

  • @Fidd91 Yes the battery is rechargeable.

  • what cable do you need to buy to hook it up?

  • @trainlova12 what camera are you using?

  • @onelonedork rebelt t2i. I think I found a cable that came with the camera for it. Thanks for the review im getting the screen as a starter then in like a month or two getting the lilliput! woo

  • does this one works on 5d?

  • @mcsabado yes.

  • Could you tell us what are the best settings at picture mode in the Haier so we can get the best image for the monitor?

  • freakin' awesome! Thanks.

  • You pronounce it Haiiii AR

  • would you recommend this as well as option? in amazon its called Haier HLT10 10-Inch Handheld TV, Black

  • does it works with D90?

  • @ForeverFire Not a Nikon owner. If it has an RCA video output you should be good to go. The HLT10 is on the larger side, and I'm not sure if it has the 1/4 20 mount on the bottom.

  • @onelonedork yet it does hace RCA video output..thanks man!...i lookinh foward the 10inches its justo 10 usd from the 7"...3" will comes good right?..anywhere i can ask aboute 1/4 mount?...bcuz i dont live on US..so in time to time i ask friends who travells to bring me the stuff..

Great videos btw! and thanks (:

  • good one so is it possible to have 1 av monitor and also a hdmi monitor also?

  • @sourcekings Not that I know of. You get one or the other but not both.

  • can you tell me the exact name of the thing that attaches the monitor to the tripod or where i can buy it

  • @spencerduhbarrett the arm or the ball head?

  • can you suggest a good chroma green flexi back drop for under 70 bucks ? i want a big one to cover a 6 ft actor

  • @spencerduhbarrett tubetape sells some low price green screen sets.

  • I'd never know what hardware to get if it weren't for your videos. BTW congrats (and thanks) on 100 videos.

  • @RyanFarley000 I do all the foot work so you don't have to. Thanks!

  • Nice review. I'm doing a shoot this Monday where I'll be using a homemade steady cam to shoot a theatre stage by walking 360 degrees around it. I picked up this monitor off Amazon and will be mounting it to my steadycam so I can face forward yet see what the camera is recording. Hopefully this will work out well. Again, great review.

  • @JamesCGI Nice! Let me know who it turns out.

  • Your videos are great! Very helpful. I really appreciate it. I was wondering what the best way to attach this to my rig would be?

  • Do you think you could make a video on how to remove the Magic Lantern firmware from your camera fully? I'm actually trying to figure this out myself...

  • @JoshuaBeeLoved Magic Lantern lives on the sd card if I'm not mistaken. Just switch the card with a fresh one and you'll have your old firmware.

  • @StimpyJackal You are correct sir. He could also formate the old card.

  • Haier = HAIR!!! You were right!

  • @JoshuaBeeLoved Nice!

  • Magic Lantern is out for the 60D? That's news to me. The only thing I've heard of is an unstable alpha version. Am I missing something?
