i agree with you, a brush does accomplish a better job, depending on what job you are trying to accomplish...i find it easier to do my hair with a comb, when i want to tease smaller, shorter layers of hair, but since my hair is a combination of both, a comb still does better. HOWEVER, if trying to tease larger sections the brush gets the job done faster. just putting this out there:)

You dont have to have extentions but ppl think it looks better with length. and you dont have to have layers. there are videos all the time where it looks like chicks dont have layers. Its just easier to do with layers. You will try and see what works best for you and find ways to have it accommodate what you like.

@pokythecat5 Having thick hair is a main part of the gimmick. Cause I mean, when you have layers in your hair that is what helps to create the look. I'm sure you have seen other scene videos on how to do your hair. Your hair will probably not come out like mine if you aren't getting it cut or have any layers. It will come out more like some of the girls who have all one length really long hair. It will poof up but not in the same way. Good luck!

I had my hair all chopped off to this hairstyle in a book at a salon I went to (this happened because I cut my hair myself and it looked horrible - don't ever try to cut your hair yourself) ... anyways in time it grew to look like that. So maybe gear for choppy layers but not too short
