When I looked at the Holden site it didn't mention that the Caprice was a model of the Commodore. It is listed as a complete different model. I have been pulling for Holden dealers in the US for a long time. Hell Holden needs to take NASCAR by storm.

You rarely see a 'Ford Lincoln Mercury Mazda dealer', even though FoMoCo owns Mazda. The only member of the big 3 that sometimes has all brands under one roof is Chrysler and even then some dealers will be lacking a brand or two.

Pontiac will be gone. no ifs, ands, or buts, its going to be gone. GM has confirmed that Pontiac is dead. Holden has stopped importing the G8, the Solstice's factory has stopped building them, and the G3, G5, and G6 have all been kicked out of the Lake Orion, Michigan plant.
uh the Viper is part of Dodge/Chrysler, not GM. and as far as I know, GM is keeping the Corvette. Heck they just released the Corvette Grand Sport... which looks pretty awesome.

It is one of the few quality Cars GM has ever produced, it is the perfect fusion of vauxhal motors and Holden, plus the fenesse that Pontiac Is famous for. The G8 is a very solid car that gives you a hell of a bang for your buck,its ride and performance is second to none within 10K its a brilliant GM car that has way too much still to give.
Its crazy to shelf it, GM i proud of it.

I say keep the G8 but please dont badge it as a caprice cause in my mind it;s a big fat car that doesnt handle worth a damn. bring it back as a nova and not the one from the eighties. please also note if they are gonna sell it in mexico dont name it a nova since i nova in spanish means doesnt run or something like that.

I think it would be awesome of GM could manage to bring in the G8 as a Holden, or introduce the Holden brand name to American in general. However, this is not the time to do that, since the multiple companies/rebadgers of GM are part of what caused its downfall.

I hope the G8 stays around in one form or another...its a gorgeous car and should not disappear like the GTO did!! Also, Derek can you find out what is going on with the rumors of Mitsubishi releasing a version of the new Eclipse with a turbo-charged 4B11T...will there be a new "GS-T" or "GS-X"? I've seen pics, but have not heard any real talk about it......let me know what you find out plz brother!!

i think they should bring back the firebird trans am with a ls9 motor ( please dont base it off the new camaro).... or a chevy caprice based on the G8 also with the ls9.. all that to go agaisnt the M5 and watever mercedes and audi has to offer..

as for a good pontiac car, i think they should ditch the G8 completely, and go back to the roots of the late 60's GTO's that everybody loved, and recreate a retro style GTO and not that GTO that came out a few years ago which looked like a freaking sedan and not a muscle car. i mean with the Ford Mustang, Chevy Camaro,and Dodge Challenger all looking back to their retro roots, why not pontiac?

why follow a trend when you can lead your own? Although, the GTO should have had stacked headlights and a long straight hood with ram air. A new GTO should resemble the CTSV coupe concept in that regard

i would say leave it under pontiac and bring it back as the gto "like it should be" and throw in an LS7 top model with all the hybrid bells and whistles and i bet you would have a top selling car but if they really want to go with another name i would say chevy m1. m standing for motorsport and 1 for first of its kind but its jus a thought

Pontiac will be gone. no ifs, ands, or buts, its going to be gone. GM has confirmed that Pontiac is dead. Holden has stopped importing the G8, the Solstice's factory has stopped building them, and the G3, G5, and G6 have all been kicked out of the Lake Orion, Michigan plant.

The Pontiac G8/Holden VE Commodore is already being sold as a Chevrolet (in the UAE, South Africa, and Brazil).
The Commodore has been sold as a Chevrolet now for over the last 10 Years.
Just google or Youtube CHEVROLET LUMINA SS, or CHEVROLET OMEGA
Holden has also sold other cars as Chevrolets, including the CAPRICE.
so if u still want a G8 that looks slightly different and if it isn't being sold in america, just import it from the UAE.

uh the Viper is part of Dodge/Chrysler, not GM. and as far as I know, GM is keeping the Corvette. Heck they just released the Corvette Grand Sport... which looks pretty awesome.

the campagana t-rex, built in Canada, is similar to the Marotti but better in my opinion. ~195 bhp. sure its a little more expensive but you can get a windshield -no helmet needed, removable waterproof sadlebags. and dot approved

Please, Please, Please Keep the G8! I would buy this car if it was a Chevy, Buick (although GM should Kill Buick and keep Pontiac), Hell I would even buy it if GMC was on the front! In fact, thats a neat thought, a GMC G8!

First time poster long time viewer, I felt the need to speak out about the G8. It is one of the few quality Cars GM has ever produced, it is the perfect fusion of vauxhal motors and Holden, plus the fenesse that Pontiac Is famous for. If GM wants to reduce everything then I guess the 2010 Buick LaCrosse will do just fine, but GM so us all a favour and drop that friggin price! Can I get an AMEN!

The G8 as you call it is known to us 'down under' as the Holden Caprice and it is the same in Saudi where I work...it is a great car and should be kept...whether it is a Pontiac G8 or a Chevrolet it should stay...it is a great car...there is even a 2 door version that was sold as a Monaro in Australia and NZ and as a Lumina SS Sport in the middle east...it even got a 6 litre engine as well...now who would shelve a great car like that.....only a retard would...right...

the HSV is Holden Special Vehicles when they do souped up models like the 6 litre Monaro....the two door coupe or the Ute...and SS is a trim state...just like Caprice was...all names and letters really, they all have the latest Chev V8 under their hoods

They need to SHELVE the G8 and let it be the collectible it currently is. If they bring it back it will lose much of its value from the fact that Pontiac no longer exists. Do NOT screw over the people that paid good money for the G8 and the GXP out of having bought a collectible! And yes I know what Im talking about- my dad just bought the last GXP in the US.
