@AaronShaunBrennan Please don't say that either Scottish Gaelic or Irish are going to die. Both are going remarkably strong and will continue to do so well into the future. As a student of Scottish Gaelic, I am fully immersed in the language 24/7 and am able to live my life with very little English. There are approximately 60,000 native speakers currently in the world and many thousand learners. Job opportunities for Gaelic are plentiful in Scotland and the east coast of Canada.
@DomhnallDomhnallach I pray your right. I for one have never met anyone who speaks Gaelic. 60,000 is not much when it comes to the entire world or compared with other forms of language. Thanks for the info I feel a little better but I still think it will die eventually, but I hope I am wrong.
Nice to listen to Christine singing as sweetly ever, and to see she is still as beautiful as she was when I first saw her in Linthouse all too many years ago.
@animalunaris O mo cheist am fear ban, Miann gach og-bhean O mo cheist am fear ban Mo cheud leannan 's mo ghradh 'S e nach d' fhuair e mo lamh Fath mo Ieon-sa 'S truagh nach robh mi mar bha Cridheil sunndach 'S truagh nach robh mi mar bha Mu 'n do dhiult mi 'm fear bàn 'S cha bhithinn an dràsd’ Cianail, tùrsail. ‘S bochd nach robh mi a ghaoil Teann ri d’ghualainn. ‘S bochd nach robh mi a ghaoil Mise a siubhal ri d’thaobh Ann an gleannan an fhraoich Taobh na fuaran

Wow, such perfection! I don't understand the words, but I certainly have a feel for the music!

Its sad that this language is going to die. ): Was there any good that came from England to Ireland?
AaronShaunBrennan 1 year ago
@AaronShaunBrennan that's a very pessimistic outlook! and this is scottish gaelic, not irish - closely related though.

@ampersandpaul Agreed, but very often the better performers have to be sought out and are not on the commercial/ professional circuit.
