I want to buy used (<7k$) rear wheel drive car with manual gearbox and preferably V6.It is important to have 25+ mpg and cheap repair costs. Turns out there are very few such cars on US market. If I get mustang or camaro insurance is going to kill me (I am 23). Basically the only option is either 4-door BMWs or CTS. But CTS is cheaper to maintain. Any thoughts about manual&rwd cars in US ?

Everyone shut the fuck up about the interior. This is a base model. If you get a more loaded interior like mine, you get wood trimmings on the wheel, doors, and shifter, and in later years, wood on the center stack. And only about 25% percent of the interior is plastic: the center stack on earlier models, the upper dash, and the console are the only plastics, everything else is padded material. And also, it's built quite well. Shut up and think about it.

This is one of america's high end luxury vehicles yet the interior, with exception of the steering wheel still looks like a plastic cheap Malibu. I love the look from outside, almost bought one, but once I sat in it, I just couldn't believe it. Why cant the america automotive industry lift up the interior build quality of their cars, It is the one thing that truly leaves us behind the europeans. As a student of Automotive Engineering, it is a huge let down, so much needs changing

The button with the "S" and gear surrounding it is stabilitrack. It's for winter driving. I'm not sure how it functions differently than the traction control switch in the glovebox. Or it is sportshift which changes how the transmission selects gears during acceleration and deceleration and is fun to drive with it on if you have the 3.6

@avenger836 It's actually indicates a "sports mode" and not stabilitrack. The traction control can be turned off in the glovebox.

I have the same car that is a 2005 but some of the features are the same and I have yet to figure out what the button by the gear shifter does. It is an s with a gear around it. I think it is like sport suspension or something like that but I don't know and if somebody could tell me that would be great.

I'm sure Lutz assumed the design would incorporate luxurious materials but in the end they had to go with bottom barrel plastic because internal bureaucracy. That's one reason I never liked this generation of CTS's.

@Walterfreudt They're all wonderful. The Eldy, SeVille, and STS all have the Northstar, unless you get the V6 STS, with a 3.6L V6, from the 2004- CTS.

I always wondered why do they put rev limiters on cars so you can't rev it high in park?

Any chances of a CTS-V from this generation? I believe they had a supercharged Northstar or something like that and a 6 speed. I know you have a newer generation CTS-V.

I'd love to see a STS-V also if you could, they are great cars as well. Very underrated. IMO

Wish you had a DeVile from 89-93 as well like the Junker one you showed.

@Forgoten214 the CTS-V from this generation just used the corvette engine, not a northstar. but yes it did have a 6 speed.

The CTS is a great car, i've had my 03 for a little over a year now, maintenance is not wow high for a luxury car, it has all the amenities anyone could have asked for, especially in 2003, the engine is strong for being just a v6. This CTS is as base as you can go, no options at all, get some options and the interior will look much much better. wiki the options available.

@cito117 Well, the 2003 mercedes e320 had 221 hp (non bluetech diesel...the 3.2 gas engine)

Cadillac had a 305 hp 3.6l v6 while mercedes was pushing 260-270 out of their 3.5.
