Peter had a sword when Jesus was going to be taken captive by the Roman and Jewish authorities for interrogation and later his crucifixion. He even used it. Peter was the leader of the Church, yet he used a weapon to defend the Lord. Joseph Smith used a weapon to defend the other men. I never knew the thing about the window. But now i understand its purpose. He didn't give up and commit suicide. He sacrificed his life to divert shots against the other two men.

Joseph Smith could easily have not given himself up knowing that he would be killed. He also never denied the first vision despite threats to his life. The far easier path, and if Joseph Smith was somehow less of a person for attempting a momentary attempt at self defense, and that only after looking into the face of his just murdered brother. Sorry but a couple of hundred men against four for a few minutes is hardly a blazing gun battle it was simply a SLAUGHTER. They never had any chance.

Apostle Peter, cut off the ear of a a Roman soldier when Jesus was arrested in the Garden of Gasethame. So, Joseph Smith is in good company. Joseph is a true Martyr because he tried to save his own life and the life of his brethren and endured to the end!!

I think you have a good "idea" here.  The world proves that picking up a Bible and reading it provides little understanding of the gospel and God's plan for all of us. With 1000's of Christian denominations out there teaching their own gospel of Christ, your well meaning logic falls flat on it's face. However the Bible (Both OT and NT) shows us that God does chose leaders or prophets to guide his saints in ALL dispensations. From Adam to John they were all chosen by Christ to teach the truth.

There are over 1000 denominations out there and they have many different worship styles and cultural slants; but essentially the message of salvation is the same. You can have prophets and pastors to guide you but ultimately a personal relationship with God is where it is at. Men will let you down; they make mistakes and sometimes fall into error. prophets of old did not "guide". They were not "leader guides", like Mormon prophets. They "prophesied". But, in the Mormon Chruch, you have 15 so-called prophets who are 98% administrators, with 2% perspiration thrown in, for good measure.

Hey yea I think I came across something about him; is he the 666 guy from Puerto Rico? Anyway about modern day prophets; scripture is very clear about Jesus- we can go directly to him. Hebrews 4:16 we can come 'BOLDLY to the throne of Grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace in the time of need.' If you have time the book of Hebrews is loaded with spiritual treasures. You have a concordance in your Bible with study helps? You can do topical studies that way.

Yes he is the 666 guy from Puerto Rico who claims that breaking a commandment is not a sin and that there is no such thing as sin. I guess he is just more of the book of revelation coming to pass. And yea, the scriptures are clear about Jesus. But there are some of us, not saying all mormons, but some of us people who just need more help than others I guess. We have a prophet though because in christs church, there were prophets, and apostles, and deacons and priests and teachers.

Has anybody read what happened to the men who murdered joseph smith? How they died? pretty messed up. The prophesies he made about that night are incredible as well, the night he was murdered. I love this man with all of my heart, without him I dont know were I would be. Joseph Smith was a true prophet called of god to lead us. I love this man for translating the book of mormon so that I could have a closer relationship with christ. I love this man.

You dont understand what I said. I never said that Joseph Smith replaced Christ or that the only way to god was Joseph smith. There is one god, and only one mediator between us and god. A prophet is just a direct servant of god. Think of a prophet as the mouthpiece of god on the earth.

You are correct in stating that there is only 1 God; Isaiah 43:10,11. All this talk about prophets gets nowhere- God has said all that he needs to say in Jesus (see Hebrews 1:1-14). Jesus created the world; purged our sins; is now seated (vs3 ie.. he is not working; his mission was complete), angels worship him (vs 6).

I think it's ironic how we keep up the practice that inspired Joseph Smith to pray to God in the first place. We sit here and argue scripture when "Christian" denominations still don't agree with one another. Notice there are 1000's of denominations interpreting differently? Although the Bible is the word of God it alone OBVIOUSLY does not settle any debates between religions at to it's TRUE meaning. That's why Christ personally calls Prophets and Apostles to lead us in them.

I know humbly that this man, was killed unconstitutionally and unprotected by the men in blue, because they chose to disbelieve his testimony that God lives and let their differences of opinion get the better of them and that they will one day pay the penalty for the murder of Joseph Smith at the bar of Jesus Christ our, savior, redeemer and judge for all.

Thank you. I can't help but thank God for all the prophet's that have come since Adam and the way they have been treated. From Adam to Pres. Hinckley they had to have all felt a bit alone and burdened by what the Lord expected of them. I love to hear the truth about our Prophets. Too many people focus on their ignorance and are too mean spirited during these last days.

Great history lesson on the last days of Joseph Smith. I wish all would understand those days and the trials and hardships of not only what he went through, but his followers, friends, and family. He died honorably and I'm proud that he defended his friends to the end.
