halliday's "functional grammar" and relational databases

halladay's functional grammar is sociologically based wheras chomsky's is psychological if not "scientific" in that it attempts to explain actual modalities in the human mind/brain. these modalites, at one point believed by chomsky's followers to be a language organ have been reduced now to perhaps mutations in the FOXP2 gene. but systemic functional grammar is a whole different ball of wax.
