Prong collars are fine, it can be abused like any training collar, but when used correctly it can be the difference between a owner being able to control or not. As well he is right prong collars don't harm the dog in any way, obviously slip chains can when used incorrectly.
All they do is break!! but it might be because I have a 120lb bulldog but she is fine now that its gone and she has a nylon 1 and it works/worked great and now wears a regular 1 after 4yrs
I have to use a prong collar on my GS, it really is the only way I can control him (when he see's another animal or if a person is running towards us), tried the gentle leader but he would be like a kite on a windy day at the end of it and it marked his nose, tried a body harness and it took him about 30 minutes to figure out how to get out of it.
Like everything else! Common sense and moderation. Much less chance of physical damage than a choke or head halter with a surging and pulling dog. Prong = Training Collar and it works.
@KoricTheBrave It was a general statement. They are one of the safest training collars on the market.Gentle leaders DO break necks, choker collars destroy tracheas.Yet, prong collars are actually banned in some countries while people are hanging their dogs until they pass out with chokers. The point is prejudice and not understanding the collar has hurt the industry.Dogs will not like any collars if used incorrectly.BTW, Starmark collars are a good alternative.(what i usually use).
@k91dogtraining I have never once meet someone that has said a bad thing about Gentle leaders. Prongs also destroy trachea's and cause extreme pain to the animal. They are not safe. Not sure what behaviour training you've had.
@AnimeCorgi You are missing the point of the video.I agree they CAN cause pain.I teach how to use them in a gentle way.You are wrong about them causing trachea damage though and obviously dont understand the mechanics.Prong collars were invented by a German Veterinarian to AVOID trachea damage associated with chokers. It is virtually impossible to harm the trachea with a prong.I am a very established professional and teach proper use of ALL collars.Do your own research on GL safety.
@AnimeCorgi A gentle leader that twists my neck will be the last thing I allow the dog to jerk around or pull on me. I have used them, but please dont be fooled by the name. Like I said, do your own research I have done mine.
@AnimeCorgi BS. Isaw a dog fainting in the show ring from the choker. Prong collars can't destroy trachea simply because they are not tightened all the way.
I raised a LOT of dogs in my life, mostly big and powerful (ridgebacks, danes, rottweilers). Prong collar, if used properly, is a great tool.

Your slowmo thing really hurts my ears :S Don'T know what kind of program you guys are using to edit your videos.
Also personally I don'T really like prong collars :S My neighbour has one on his pittbull and I'm pretty sure that the dog doesn't like it.

@KoricTheBrave You and your neighbor should watch my videos then. Ignorance is destroying the dog training industry.

@k91dogtraining How is me saying 'I don'T like prong collars' ignorance? Or were you just talking about my neighbor?
