  • Im a young cb. Only 8th grade. Ik a lot of ppl plAy cb dif but, do u take only 3 read steps? And am I supposed to stay on his outside?? Someone please answer these questions. Thanks

  • @RBCBsooners you usually only take 3-5 read steps in high school. And u r suppose to stay on the outside of the receiver because if u stay on the outside, u then jam him into the inside allowing the linebackers to help u make the play!!!

  • When man to man on a guy, swivel ur hips when changing direction especially if he's going straight down the field for a fly, back peddle until u know u know he not gonna make a break then swivel ur hips to stay with him. NEVER let him get past you. Always stay in front of him.

By the way asante Samuel is the best in the nfl at reading a qb

  • 0:16 at the top i thought it said facebook :)

  • im man to man watch his hips all the way .

  • This guy looks like a cross-country runner.

Nevertheless, it was a good, concise presentation.

  • when tackling just try to breakdown as wide and low as possible, because the running back or wide receiver is always looking for a two-way-go on you, but having a wide low stance messes with their natural reactions. Usually, if you have to think about your move you are already tackled.

  • another thing is if hes behind u all u got to do is look at his eyes and u can tell when the ball is coming

  • Also, effective jamming is nice. The first 5 yards off the line of scrimmage, ANYTHING GOES! You can jam the receiver up as long as you don't physically hold him. Press coverage is HUGE on 3rd and short, to keep the WR from catching those quick slant/out route passes.

  • If the receiver is on the outer part of the field, he's most likely going to run a pattern. If he's in the middle/close to the quarterback, then he's either going to block or go for a long pass.

  • im great at man on man coverage when its a pass play, but i cant read the o line that well when its a run and keep to the outside when its a run, etc. Ive been told if i learn the position more ill be really good but i just need some more general tips cause its my first year and im a starting corner

  • :50 i almost never watch hips i keep my hand on his upper torso and try to focus on his body and head, square in his eyes if i can works for me well.

  • @texmexman1 cause your obviously playin shitty wr...get into the habit of watching his hips cause his body and head can lie but his hips tell you where hes is going everytime.

  • great vid

im a corner my coach tells me the exact same thing this works

  • I didn't like this instructional video. :/

It was like saying to be a better math student, learn how to do algebra, calculus, and trig.

  • What? This twig again?

  • Great vid. I've been watching eyes not hips

  • when u make ur 45 deg. turn you should push down on the receivers knee especially if hes faster than you( its not illegal unless the ball is in the air

  • no if u look closely enough he is opening the pen

  • lol it sounds like it at 42-43

  • Rofl at :40-:43 does he fart?

  • No, It was the cap from the marker, but it id sound like it lol.

  • lol no its was the sound of twisting his cap off

  • hell yah he did!....lol.....dats nasty!!!!

  • @Emahja22 u idot lol dat was the marker cap

  • oh!...cause i would have just trown da tape away i i did that!...lol

  • 2:08, does he say quarterback lol?

  • HE DID HAHA LOL

  • i need some help getting faster...anybody got any tips??

  • run track. i went from a 12.7 100m too 11.3 . im telling you. also learn how to run effectively without wasting energy. i promise you results.

  • @SJzfiNESt408 Longer strides.

  • @SJzfiNESt408 ight coo i planned on runnin it bu didnt know what the outcome would be but now im pretty confident in them lol

  • work out, deadlifts (below parellel), squats (below parrellel, sitting and regular), other workouts similar to those you can throw in but those are best because they target all muscles. also lots of conditioning, like short quck sprints, flipping tires (if you can find any or have space), box jumps are extremely important. i increased my 40 from a 4.91 to a 4.59 from the beginning of my offseason to the end. huge differennce and huge confidence builder to say u run a 4.5.

  • thanxs for the tips...

  • When they put their hands up to catch the ball and your not looking back for the ball its usually to late. If your watching the receiver, their eyes widen when the ball is being thrown to them in the air.

  • thts wat i look at

  • thats stupid what if the recevier catches on and pulls a feint? then as a corner your screwed, watching a receivers hips is like watching a qb's eyes as a linebacker it gives you an almost perfect read on whats going on

  • @chiefreak true thats why i dont look at the qb

  • @chiefreak Not always i dont do that i practice not to do that and it makes me a better receiver

  • @chiefreak Un polished receivers do that. The great ones NEVER let you know when the ball is coming. They'll pretend like its not and then snag it at the last minute. That's why its better to be on your man's hip so you can become the receiver and play the ball with your own eyes

  • these are good tips. but nonthing that yu shouldnt already kno. just watch some nnamdi asomugha stuff...

  • yo write me back dude ok i been doing your drills man and now i am starting cornerback for the electric city chargers (semi pro)hopeing for a walk on with the eagles in the future

  • thanks =D

  • great video, this is really useful, especially that thing where u dont have look in wr-s eyes,i use to always do that :) and end up looking at his backs

  • haha happened to me.. was covering this reciever and he run a bench routa and i thought it was a square out so leaned forward and bang he goes through the back door but luckily my safety was there and made a big hit

  • GOOD TIPS

  • thank alot, these tip are really helpful :)
