This was a powerfully, honest book that I couldn't put down. Thank you Jennifer for sharing your story. I lost my only brother to an infection after gastric bypass...he was addicted to food. I felt as though your story was so similar to his life. I'm so glad the surgery was successful for you and you reclaimed your life.
This is a very powerful book and I commend Jennifer Joyner for having the guts to write it. I strongly agree with Jennifer that the medical community needs to take food addiction seriously and to stop saying all you need is some "will power"!
Thank you for writing this book. It was painful to read. This almost mirrors my life. I had the surgery and regained 60lbs. I will now seek other help. Every time I think of your book I feel a little stronger and more determined not to give in to this addiction.
Jennifer is a courageous woman to tell the honest and personal experience of addiction whether it be food, drugs or depression. I learned so much and am only halfway through her book. I just didn't know about food addiction and the misery of being morbidly obese, but her book spoke to my depression. We led the same lives! Who knew?! Thank you, Jennifer...your book is one of a kind. Please accept all speaking engagements....I cried when I saw you and heard you speak. You are for real
