I I think the quality of Sk'a work is uneven, true, but at times his work does rival other celebrated writers. He uses philosophy, symbology, etc in many of his writings. Not many people are aware that he wrote The Shawshank Redemption which is an excellent movie as well as a novella. I'm a big fan of Steinbeck but SK's book sit comfortably on my shelves by his. I think his book on writing was excellent and generous and also a great memoir. Read Misery and tell me that it isn't a great book.

King has been writing longer than I've been alive, lol. My personal favorites include: 1. Bag of Bones, 2. Desperation, 3. Duma Key, 4. Pet Sematary, 5. Insomnia.

I haven't read his juggernauts, though, such as The Stand and It; these are just from the 12 I've read.

For people never heard of Celine or Beckett, punctuation is what it is, as well as writers like SK to venerate in front of fools. But then again, of course that someone of a "dumbass" language would never even hear of Celine, less to read him or follow.Leo Tolstoy once fairly defined what art iss and most of it he recycled into a strong group of art imitations. That concerned even Zola and Wagner. For SK I am not sure that he would find anything except his books being an unpleasant toilet paper.

He's one of those authors that says that his books are like his children and he hates having to choose between them. HOWEVER, he has stated on a couple of occasions that "The Reach" is his short story he likes the most.
