This is actually Festival di Sanremo 1979, a very popular local contest show (almost like "EuroFestival"), where Italian singers battle for the winning song, meant to be the "greatest phenomenon of the year".
Some foreign popular artists are involved as guests, and 1979 was Kate's year indeed...
