  • They say that Clapton is God, but I'm pretty sure that he and Keith share the throne. Also, RIP Ox; you held this band of misfits together.

  • 40+ years later and this is still great

  • When Pete would ask all the "rough boys" WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?? This is why they had no answer.

  • at 6:08 - 6:14, whats with the two creeps leaving front row??

  • Keith Moon going ape shit at the drums = I say fucking win.

  • Do you wanna know who is Keith Moon? Go to 0:47 - 0:58

    You see!!! He's on fire

  • jesus,What a band!!!!

  • One of my favorite Keith performances

  • Entwistle McCartney and John Paul Jones. The holy bass trinity.

  • Look at Moon! He's always smiling about something mischevous in his head.

  • is keith moon rocking cut offs?

  • The WHO in their prime...untouchable...best band to ever hit a stage...simple fact.

  • The closest I ever came to have an outer body experience, to acknowledging the possibility of there being a higher power, was when I saw them perform this song on the Endless Wire tour

  • 1:34 to 1:44

Yep. John is doing that with his FINGERS. fucking hell, i belive that ANY other bassist would have to use a pick to get that kind of sound

  • @Fredrockroll I watched a video of him on PBS of all places and he showed how he would pluck the string at different locations on the body to get hard or soft sounds and he would vary the parts of his fingers he would use to hit the string to get different tones. He definitely had a style all his own, you can always tell it's him on Bass.

  • THAT ONE is my number 1 of Rock Music and it'll ever be.= So sad coz of KEITH and JOHN leaving us so soon. = Saw them live at Stuttgart 1976, anyway, 2 yrs before Keith died.= With love from Russia, St. Petersburg. Paul =

  • Absolutely fucking incredible!

  • townshend or page?

    i cant compare two gods....

  • SAW THE WHO 33 TIMES IN 6 STATES-

28 TIMES WITH KEITH AND 11 TIMES IN THEE FIRST ROW.

THIS VIDEO SEZ IT ALL TO ME AS THIS IS THE SECTION OF THEIR SHOWS THAT I CAN SAY "CHANGED MY LIFE" ... AND MADE ME WANT TO DO WHAT I DO .... PLAY DRUMBS.... BETWEEN 1968-1972 NO BAND IN ANY GALAXY TOUCHED THE WHO ; ESPICALLY LIVE! .... AND IN NYC.

OF COURSE THEY WERE GREAT BEFORE 1968 AND UP UNTILL ABOUT LATE 1973 WERE THAT LEVEL THAT YOU SEE HERE.

UNTOUCHABLE LIVE AND UNEQUALLED IN THE STUDIO THEY WERE

  • The pinnacle of rock music. Love the simplicity of the stage, no drum riser, just 4 guys tearing it up.

  • When I finish building my time machine....this is the first place I'm going !

  • @1934rod Hell yeah! Me too!

  • keith goes off 6:07

  • Never saw this one before! Thanks for the upload....The Who truely at their best!!

  • "strange as it seems, his musical dreams aren't quite so bad....."

  • keith is talking to himself

  • So thick in spirituality. Mix that with some of the best rock ever. That's why this will never die.

  • pete is the man!!!

  • the best instrumental song of all time

  • 149:0 says everything........what an AMAZING JOURNEY. Keith Moon at his absolutely best - often copied, never reached. That one is without any exaggeration my number 1 ever.= Saw them live at Stuttgart / Germany in 1975 or 76. Unfortunately, Keith died 3 yrs later coz of underestimating the power of Distraneurin, or this was suicide, respectively. We will never find out. Let it be so.= With love from St. Petersburg / Russia, Paul

  • Best Who concert ever. I love how Keith Moon is making faces at the beginning.

  • Is this ENTIRE CONCERT Available ANYWHERE ??

    What an INCREDIBLE SHOW !!!!

    THE WHO !

  • @mikenobeardthepirate read the doobly doo. links are in there.

  • fuckin' a!

  • Friday, Nov.7,1969...row 11, seat 21...ticket price...$3.50...The Convocation Center...Ohio University...Athens Ohio...120dbs...greatest experience of my life !!!

  • @bartlettohio so lucky to have seen them at that time. I've seen them when older but at that time....majestic and unequalled. Youtube allows us see the Gods of rock visit the land of mere mortals. The greatest ever band. I'm sure thousands can say like you that seeing them in thier prime was the greatest gig they could ever or will ever see.

  • I was there and when Sly and the Family Stone left we got on with this

  • Tons of sloppy moments but they're all so expressive and talented it doesn't matter even a bit. These guys are what RnR's all about.

  • Whos a better drummer. Keith Moon or Bill Ward?

  • Greatest Drummer of all time!!!!!

  • The bass is so loud it makes the cymbals shake.

  • life sucks at the moment but when you watch this it was worth living just for the pure joy of wow legends masters teachers of how music should be love it nice 1

  • Speaking for anyone who's ever picked up a guitar and wanted to be Pete Townshend, how did that man get over the fear of the strings when he was windmilling?

  • Incredible footage!

  • Shit!! Why don't they feature John on is little bass solo?? The camera man need his ass kicked!!

  • @bassmanjoe The tragic norm for die hard fans of The Ox. I hate how little screen time he gets.

  • pete's sense of build up is unparalleled as well as the rhythm section

  • Why aren't there any black people in this band? Fucking racists.

  • This band was created by GOD!

All other bands are man made!

  • The Ox has one badass loud rig there. Best rock bassist

  • Wow!! sorry zep, beatles, stones, hendrix, cream etc fans. no band could touch this band in the 70's. thats it. pure pure agressions in their playing. i think 3:16 to 3:25 says it all boys and girls. no other band could Ever!!!! create or pull that monster change sooo sooo brillantely. genius at its finest. take note everybody!!!! they were simply the best bar none at the game.

  • @cassianpet You got that right.

  • I remember when I first saw the 30 years of Maximum R&B v.h.s, and Heaven and Hell, I Can't Explain, and Water were on it. I sooooo wanted to see the rest of this particular Tanglewood show. Never thought it would be possible. I hope more Who footage from this era come from the vaults soon. No other band kicked this much fucking ass live during this era in Rock n' roll. LONG LIVE ROCK!

  • I want Keith Moon in my band.

  • Can you feel the love?

  • this is an amazing video keith is really off the charts on this one!!

  • My birthday is July 7, 1970.....NO BULLSHIT!!! :-)

  • one of the most influential and greatest rock bands of all time their music will live forever.

  • FUCKINABSOLUTEQUALITYTHEWHOARE!XXX

  • The lyrics of this song were not at all influenced by Pete Townshend's drug use at the time. And I'm the King of France. :-)

  • I see now. thanks

  • This is great! The quality is wonderful. This has to do with the availability of Bill Graham's stuff. I ain't no hagiographer here, but The Who are something else. Thanks!

  • This is great! The quality is wonderful. This has to do to the availability of Bill Graham's stuff. I ain't no hagiographer here, but The Who are something else. Thanks!

  • anyone else notice the extra guitar sound at 6:30? is that John's bass or something?

  • @mudslide88

Thats John. Hes not a bassist after all, Hes a bass guitarist. His sounds are so damn good, no one has a better sounding bass.

  • @mudslide88 Yeah that's john. He would pluck near the bridge to get a more cutting/raspy sound. I think it kind of sounds like an acoustic 6 string.

  • Playing and tuning the guitar simultaneously... genious :D

  • Happy Birthday Pete Townshend!!!

  • This is absolutely awesome!......I remember buying the who live at leeds in cd back in 1995 when i was a junior in H.S and i still have it, i also bought the who boxed thirty years of live R&B boxed set that same year but it only ha 3 clips from tanglewood but this is fantastic i'm so happy to see this thank you for posting this!.

  • Kill stuff! Great to work to!

  • Absolutely Superb. I love this video of my fav band of all time, at their peak. No one could touch the Who Live in the early 70s.

  • WOW!!!!!!! All I can say is wow. If you know anything about music this is awesome stuff. The band is so tight here.

  • Thanks and another Thanks, for doing this upload and all the work involved in doing so!

I have loved the WHO since I was ?,,,,, back in 1965? I CAN SEE FOR MILES !!!! This should be the most view show on youtub!! Thanks again to "thebigguyconnor"

  • Ladies and Gentlemen...........The Who.

  • MOONIEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! :)

  • Impresionante !!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw the at U H Hoffienz Pavilion some time in 1970. Watching this was just like reliving a moment in time. Notice how much smaller stages were....The Who were spacers...they neeed lots of space....

  • Wow, video of this! This concert is the greatest live rock performance I've ever heard. Moon KILLS it. Just amazing.

  • Keith Moon is incredible!!!!!

  • I love the 'oo......and Wolfgans Vault. :)

  • Connor you have done the world a great service. I thought The Who's 1970 US tour would remain only a memory (I saw them at Meriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland on that tour). This was The Who at their peak, which means rock & roll at its peak.

  • @jackgintfan Lucky bastard. I wasn't even born! hehe

  • I saw them play this set on this tour in 1970 in Maryland. To this day still perhaps the most mind--blowing and electrifying show I've ever seen.

  • Keith misses the first drum fill after the first vocal bit, then does it the second time as per the original song. Pete's looking at him, going, "um Keith..." They recovered nicely.

  • the bests

  • Super

  • I have NEVER been so slack-jaw awed to silence as i was when seeing this video just now. Stunning- even the MISTAKES are stunning! I nearly wet myself at 2:28- so be careful, Who Fans, in viewing this product!

  • My God. This is breathtaking.

  • The lunar miscue is abt. 0:48

  • If you don't mind me asking you how do u download this on um Wolfgangs vault i found it but how do i download it?

  • @Rocky54167 it's not available for download on wolfgangs vault.

  • @thebigguyconnor Just wanted to extend a sincere "Well Done" to you for posting this. Thank you much ! :)

  • @thebigguyconnor sorry i read the discription wrong do u know thou where i can get the video version of this? this is better then the one i have.

  • You're friggin' killing me here. Outstanding quality! Thanks again.

  • The rawness of 3:18... Makes my bones judder :)

  • thanks so much, guys. Had been searching for THIS version for ages. Keith at his best............if I can be of any help for you traveling to Russia, pls let me know.==saw THE WHO live at Stuttgart / Germany 1975, Keith was still alive but an extreme drinker............Paul / St. Petersburg / Russian Federation

  • Unusual for Moon to be sleeping at the beginning. Jimi's Foxy Lady 3:46. One of Townshend's greatest ideas 5:23. Simple but very effective and memorable.

  • @stuporduper Agreed.

  • hearing and watching this is an amazing journey!

    Thanks for post!!

  • Un..(*&^ believable...In my 53 years I saw most, if not all the great ones. Show this to anyone to and let them see the greatest live band of the time. Sorry Zep fans, I love them too but they couldn't touch the Who live. Dueing the 69-77 era, hold up a pair of Stones, Zep, or Who tix and offer me to choose a pair and it will always be the Who everytime. They always had the most incredible sense of pacing and build up...

  • @ArtVandelay421 That's right folks, I saw all of the above, plus being older than Art here, also saw Hendrix, the Doors, Cream, Airplane, Sly and Family, the Allman's with Duane, all of who were fantastic, but in concert the Who were always the best of the best.

  • @marinman39 - Ah a kindered soul. The Who were untouchable live...saw the famous 4 (? or was it 3) night stand at the Music Hall, Boston. Closest thing to a musical orgasm...You could not take your eyes off them. Another thing about the Who, they always respected their fans...Always loved the interaction with Keith and Pete..Sorry Zep fans...(me being one..) The Who were a must see.

  • @ArtVandelay421 Totally agree. They still rock to this day.

  • @ArtVandelay421 The Who was THE best live band in the 1970s, especially 70-76. LZ is a close second (the 71, 72, 73 and 75 tours). Rounding out the Top 5 live acts of the 1970s rock scene: Zappa (1971 to 1979), Yes (72, 77 and 78), and of course, the Stones(72, 75, and 78).

  • @ArtVandelay421 ... That's why the Stones didnt release rock n roll circus.. The Who blew them, and everyone else away.. I love Stones, Kinks, Cream but no one held a candle to these guys during this period.. Nevertheless, this was the pinnacle of rock music !!!

  • @twstrchasr too bad all those bands sucked after 73...specially the who and zep (studio wise)

  • @theachtungtree And the trend of By Numbers being criminally underrated continues...

  • @batosai370 numbers or not...you really cant ignore the obvious true....i really prefer bands like Televison than a really mediocre Late 70s who album

  • @ArtVandelay421 The Who, I`m 43 and I will die, ( if of old age) knowing that the greatest band of all time is the Who.

  • Re-tune that SG (1.08)...

What a great quality vid! Thanks. My copy has got timecode burnt in...

  • @garrybod Yeah, mine too. And the sound switches between a crowd/hall mic and the stage mix. Nowhere near this quality. God, I wish they would release this properly mixed and mastered.

  • The only thing that could top this would be footage from Woodstock of Pete whacking that asshole hippie Abby Hoffman upside the head with his guitar when he jumped onstage during their set to rant about something.

  • @bilgerat64 Supposedly, it simply doesn't exist. I don't know how that could be, but that's what Townshend says. There is no film of it.

Interestingly, Townshend has expressed regret over the incident and said he was being a jerk and that he agreed with what Hoffman was saying.

  • This was without a doubt the greatest live band of all time, seen zep, stones, floyd, etc.

The Who bring electricity to every show.

  • Forgive the bad pun, but this is an amazing performance.

  • He should unleash a volley of drumming at 45 seconds...not that it matters, it's just unusual.

  • @MightyThargg no it's live

  • Love the fact that Moon misses his cue...

  • @MightyThargg where's that?

  • Comment removed

  • @thebigguyconnor at 0:45 he missed the tom intro

  • @thebigguyconnor He normally comes more aggressively around the 0:38 mark, but I'm pretty sure he was just intentionally playing it a little more subtly at this show.

  • @MightyThargg Right? It's awesome how he realizes and just BLASTS into it full fucking boar. The Who were so fucking heavy during this period.

  • @MightyThargg but then he makes up for it in a way only Moon can do

  • Awesome. Just awesome.

  • A big thank you my friend, this is a dream come true

The best band in the histroy of rock.

    Thank you thebigguyconnor

  • Sweet jesus, that quality!

  • @CyrylR lol, thanks
