You use the software that comes with the camera to rip it to mpeg. There's also a player app included that plays back the high def video DVDs (normal dvd drive won't understand the data). Good luck!
I just got one off of ebay for $180 (US). Getting an HV20 or HC7 just wasnt in my budget yet... not when I got this for 180 anyway :) Hoping to use it for a small feature and then later possibly a videography biz on the side... well see if its possible to do it with a 200 dollar camera :)
It's cheap (~$450US) and really does a great job. I've gotten the chance to shoot with it alot more recently and it's great. Plus the onboard audio does a nice job and is in 5.1! I'm impressed.
