• is this death really you? do these dreams have any meaning?

  • This makes me think so much, and I like lovee this man!

  • @MrPimkiegodess he IS a poet

  • i've always thought connor sound like lou reed and the violent femmes frontmans lovechild

  • the mood changes in this song are gorgeous.

  • This will always be my favorite Bright Eyes song.

  • @mandylynndiamond Mine too!

  • That picture you chose is so beautiful I could hardly concentrate on the song.

  • and i get to see him play in november. fuck im lucky. it will be a moment ill never forget.

  • Great song! First heard it when Dax Riggs covered it

  • the one dislike was conor being modest.

  • I go to sleep listening to him and wake up and play him..

  • I am addicted to his kind of voice. A new kind of perfectness..

  • i want a singer that can actually WRITE interesting lyrics. i don't care about how pretty their voice sounds.

  • Funny listening to this 7 years after first hearing it and it now seems to resonate more with me than the first listen. Thanks, Conor.

  • I think he sings well, I dont know what you guys are listening to ;)

  • conor is the shit bottom line!

  • and i hang like a star fucking glow in the dark for all the starving eyes to see!

  • 1 dislike only means something

  • Looks like satan has a computer....

  • that one guy must have missclicked

  • fucking beautiful

  • what font did you use in the beginning? i love it. [:

  • @ittyx3 Unfortunately I don't remember. All I know is it is some font on Adobe Photoshop CS. I wish I knew...I like it too.

  • They need to make a movie!!!

  • How could you say he shouldn't sing the song? These lyrics wouldn't exist without Conor. That would be like saying Bob Dylan should be a poet and not a singer.

  • this beginning riff sounds like the funeral by band of horses. just saying:) i looove this song though<3

  • @LiliputLemonade no it doesn't. the beginning to the funeral isn't even acoustic. there are no hammer ons and pull offs. the similarities aren't even worth mentioning. i love both songs though.

  • I LOVE Bright Eyes... however I also loved Desaparecidos... however he forsook them and totally ran off with his entire album for them, and made his last album for bright eyes. i guess fame and drink got to him... def the drink...

  • @0nlyapulse I totally disagree.

  • @0nlyapulse I disagree. I think music is more than just a pretty voice. Conor makes beautiful music with the instruments and his haunting lyrics. I think there are a lot of people who can have great voices, but don't have the feeling, don't have the soul in their songs.

  • @Xzilara You couldn't have said it better. Personally, I think Conor's voice makes the music. He sings with such deep meaning, how could you want anything different?

  • @0nlyapulse

Call it musical spoken word then.

  • @0nlyapulse are you kidding? his voice gives me chills. I wouldn't love Bright Eyes if it had any other singer. I have never heard any other singer sing with as much passion and emotion as he does.

  • @0nlyapulse I agree that he doesnt have the best singing voice but I think its great the way he conveys emotion in his voice, for that reason I think he is a really good vocalist.

  • @0nlyapulse I kindly disagree, though I do see where you are coming from. The reason I disagree is that what makes his lyrics captivating is slant rhyme and the placement of accents in the words (ex. but MOSTly the FEELing is ACCurate), both of which would be lost on paper.

  • @0nlyapulse I disagree too. I think he has a voice filled with as much feeling as his lyrics. Sure, there's singers with more refined voices, but his voice is so much a part of the song

  • @0nlyapulse Hmm, I just really love the rawness to his voice. But I get totally what your saying. - PM

  • @0nlyapulse

I also disagree, and I love his voice actually. But yes he could be a poet; easily.

  • i wish he would have played this at his show in nashville, it would have been so amazing

  • definitely one of my favorites from Conor. Theres no telling how many nights I saw with this song on repeat.

  • Conor Oberst is nothing like Bob Dylan.

I went to Asheville, NC to see him in concert two nights ago.

Why do you have to compare an artist to another artist? He is nothing like Bob Dylan. If you had the ability of hearing, you could tell that.

Conor Oberst is a talented singer/song-writer/musician.

Bob Dylan was a musician who couldn't form complete sentences in his songs. Bob Dylan also couldn't control his ego. So gtfo, thank you.

    End of story.

  • @Heckyesdeepthroatt I'd agree with you if Bob Dylan weren't arguably the most noteable force in music this century. And few people know this O'Connor whatsits.

  • @brelfan I highly disagree with your 'most notable force in music' statement. Let me guess, you're a big fan of the Beatles too, aren't you?

Few people know Mr. Oberst? I'm going to have to disagree with you on that as well. Google.com. Use it sometime, you'll see his many musical projects and each fan-base for every one of them.

    All biased comments aside-

Bob Dylan is nothing like Conor Oberst.

That's the point I was making.

  • @Heckyesdeepthroatt i actually see bob dillain in don't know when but a days gonna come :/

  • @SROD12321 I'd agree with the fact that he is VERY much like Bob Dylan. Not to say he's not a good songwriter, because his music is quite well written. But he's like Dylan in the sense that he's a pretty bad singer, but he sings the songs anyway.

  • reminds me of a girl I once knew that I fucked things up with. She played this for me and OMG she was amazing one of my fav songs ever since. I miss you Jordan. Drew

  • Is it too late to marry Conor...??? Crap. Just checked my finger and it is. :)

  • I liked Conor Oberst until he started injecting politics into his work.

  • Muahaha, thumbs down from me.

  • @dashrirprock you're a bloody vagina mouthed dick munching motherfucker...

  • @sora9019 And yet... I'M the one who popped this video's cherry! *high five*

  • @dashrirprock *high five*

  • youtube.com/watch?v=4mBVSKHyznM

  • now iam confused is this death really you?

this song is haunting in a good way.

  • is that peter from heroes lol

  • All Conor Oberst songs should include lyrics. These songs take a lot of focus.

  • If only Conor Oberst weren't such a spoiled narcissist.

  • @rustygrant

    hahahahahaha

  • @rustygrant Haha I agree to that. and if only some of his fans weren't fueling that. Otherwise, Bright Eyes has a tremendous talent and sensitivity both as a singer and a poet..His lyrics are deep and express a profound vision of youth, hope and, sometimes, life's failure..I really like him

  • Something more, like a feeling...

  • isn't he the best

  • this is the sickest bright eyes song ever!

  • favourite song atm.

  • Sometimes I can't believe that there's another human that feels the same as me.

  • Jeez I'm in love with his beautiful voice! <3

  • me and my bestfriend used to listen to this all the time ily man and miss you..... favorite song of mine

  • 'Hold Tight' by Closed Heart Surgery sampled this BRILLIANTLY.

That said, this song is pretty good, and I'm glad to finally hear what influenced one of my favorite artists. I can see why he likes it.

  • @lyricistxpeace i liked that song, and i'm glad they used the riff from this one. it worked well.

  • @lyricistxpeace closed heart there sick eh i wish they would mix more bright eyes in there music!

  • :') ahhhhhh

  • getting out of reality becomes your life. they say addicts are professional escape artists- and the part of the song where it says-

and you're not really sure what you're doing this for, but you need something to fill up the day- a few more hours.

    describes it perfectly.

when he says- a few more hours- he is talking until the day is over and then you get a temporary escape from the loneliness and hate for self and the world for a few hours in sleep.

  • this was my best friend's favorite bright eyes song... i miss her...

  • wow..amazing song..couldn't remember the name..took a guess and got lucky. intense lyrics.

  • I love his unperfect voice....it's perfect :]

  • this song is about my life in NY...Every part of it desciribes me.

  • the only song the touched my soul.

  • Let me preface my coment by saying that I am a huge bright eyes fan. That said, Conor may not be the most vocally flexible, but he manages to create somthing haunting in his lyrics. Some of my other favorites are Easy/lucky/Free and Lua. Grace and peace fellow fans.

  • @jbb2856 you're right.. he makes art rather than music q: I do find it pleasant to listen to though, including the weirder ones like Let's Not Shit Ourselves and A Perfect Sonnet. He simply manages to create something that fits, impresses and lasts. Not everyone appreciates that, though q;

    ~Nout

  • @jbb2856 Not vocally flexible? Funny you'd say this on a song where his screaming is on fully display. Most singers would crack-up screaming like this. Sure, he is not a classically "good singer." He probably wouldn't be on American Idol. But I totally disagree that he is not vocally flexible. The notes he hits when he screams are actually very hard to do - try it. He portrays emotion better with his vocal flexibility than anyone I've ever heard.

  • @SROD12321 being able to scream doesn't make you vocally flexible. I would agree that he is vocally "flexible" in the sense that his intonation is god awful. If you've never heard anybody express emotion with their voice better, I think you need to listen to more music.

  • How many artists did Rolling Stone call "this generation's Bob Dylan?" Not LIKE Dylan, but actually THE iconic songwriter of our generation! I did reviews for a music magazine for years and there's no one who portrays emotion like this kid. You want proof - look at his fans (not the screaming girls) but the Boss and Neil Young, both of whom go out of their way to sing his praise. Since we agree he isn't a great "singer," he must be doing something that others don't do. In a word: emotion.

  • and you are not really sure what you are doing this for but you need something to fill up the days.

  • Fevers & Mirrors.

  • thank you :)

  • Fucking gllow in the dark

  • and im stillllll thizzin it haha

  • 1:45 ♥

Best part in the song!! & Gorgeous boy :)

  • Great song, good quality too, props! I always turn this one on when I feel to lazy to pop in the cd xD

  • you like that warm and cozy feeling XD

  • One of my favorite of Conors

  • @ghettoarcade I say him play this in concert :p

  • OMG, I love this song too. Thanks for making it!
