  • this is very good but what does the back look like????

  • Can't this be done using a sewing machine? Also, with the handbag? I have a sewing machine and am itching to use it.

  • @naturalchick40

Yes, you can sew this project with a sewing machine. It will cut your sewing time in half. lol

  • what was that on the back?

  • i'm having trouble filling that opening in the back, because the butt doesn't fall flat...

  • Not bad... not bad... It could use improvement, but not bad.

  • do u wear everything u make?

  • @xaquamarinababex

Yes, and most of the time, I will not throw away any fabric so I have belts, hats, and accessories to match a lot of the items I wear on the show.

  • I really like this idea, but the back of your skirt is awful. I wish there was a tip on smoothing it out. From the front it was cute on you.

  • @happilyjaded You really can't say that she didnt show the whole back.

  • You are great, I love your ideas, please keep making sewing videos, they are very inspiring.

  • @Planetaterra24

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment and supporting The Discount Trendsetter Show. I am currently finishing up my fashion designing degree. This summer I am launching a new website called "D. Gulley's Online Sewing Videos. I will be making some announcements as it gets closer to the launch date.

  • Thanks D ... love it! I love how your skirt flares naturally. I'd love to see how it looks after you've washed it a few times & fringe appears along the hem ... even cuter! I've seen skirts made this way b4 & meant to try it myself. Angela Bassett's character wore a long 1 in Meet the Browns.

  • I love that skirt. And it looks so easy to make.

  • I love your show...full of useful tips...well I have 2 pairs of jeans I was goin to take to the charity shop, so may work a ting instead! thanks for sharing :0)

  • You are cute as a bug. I love this video...I will be making some of these!

  • OMG you are such a lifesaver. I have a few old pairs of jeans that, though are still my size, just don't fit right anymore. Now they won't just sit in my closet anymore. This is also super helpful since I need a new wardrobe for college. Thanks for the awesome video!

  • You are a "DIVA FAIRY GODMOTHER".

I am going on a Caribbean Cruise this fall and I was looking for ways to stay cute and be frugal.

Your clothing tuts are heaven sent.

I am a plus size girl, but I'm not hippy. Off the rack usually does not fit me well.

Thank you for the ideas and the inspiration.

I am looking forward to more looks for the summer.

Could you include some items that are multi-purpose for the traveler?

  • awesome you can also use fabric from and old shirt too...love it!!

  • NICE!!!! CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You tell ur scissors who's boss!

    Thanks for the video!

  • Great ideas... Thanks

  • Girlfriend,

You are so funny. The reason your skirt looks like a tail in the back is maybe you don't cut the extra fabric that is hanging over your seam. I noticed this was a problem for me. After I cut the extra fabric everything aligned correctly.

  • how cute i did this yrs ago it was my fav skirt! i seen gurls with the tote back but i never made one so cant wait 4 part 2!

  • ok D. Gulley! I need you to hand over that pair of earrings! Gosh D. Gosh...I need you to sacrafice! lol...I have done this skirt before and the back looked like I had a tail! What did I do wrong...thx

  • Very good video!!! You know I went to the goodwill last week and spent $28 and got two shirts for my husband one shirt for myself a dress for my daughter and some pants for my son and a towel holder, you can find some good stuff if you have the patience to look.

  • u look great!

  • Great idea!

  • love it

  • luv ur hair stylE!

  • you should make a cute vintage hat to go with the skirt, I think that would be so cool maybe a suede hat

  • that is a good idea. girl you can come up with some good creative things.

  • im gonna try this
