  • I was 7 years old when Frederic hit Mobile. We lived in Regency Subdivision of Airport Blvd which is in west Mobile. Even now at my age, I still remember what it was like to have no water for toilets or baths for almost 3 weeks and non safe drinking water for over 3 months. No power for 21 days. The looting was so bad we were under a city wide curfew. We have horrible damage to out home but Frederic never did take our spirits and our will.

  • My family moved to Pensacola from Oregon in 1977. We left in 1980 (shortly after Freddy) I was 10 at the time and had never seen such destruction. Then I moved back here in 1984. We saw Erin and Opal...

When Ivan hit I was in my home with my family. We lost part of our roof. I will never stay through another hurricane in my wife and kids. I have been through earthquakes, Volcanoes, mudslides, avalanches and seen the effects of tsunamis in my line of work. I will never stay for another hurricane.

  • @motherdestiny anyone die?

  • my mom was little she told me

  • is that filmed on government blvd

  • I was almost 7 when frederic hit... It destroyed our home and community...I remember the roar and going out during the eye and looking up at the stars....I lived in Irvington at that time..

  • I live in west Mobile and was 9 months pregnant with my first. We lost everything in Frederic, our home and all our belongings, all my baby stuff. I have now lived through 3 of the worst storms in Gulf Coast history, Camille, Frederic, and Katrina. My home is built with 2 X 6 walls, 3X the hurricane straps that code calls for, real working storm shutters, a metal roof wind rated up to 130 mph, and no large trees planted close enough to the house to fall on it. Live & learn!

  • I was 5 years old when Frederic came through. We lived in Biloxi, MS on the west side of the storm I believe. The damage was incredible. I still remember it very vividly.

  • i was at keesler afb when it struck....our mobile home was on passroad....hit by numerous tornados they say....the pictures i took agree with that!

  • I can't believe that it will be 30 yrs ago when this happened. I remember seeing all the trees that were up rooted at the Municipal park and we were out of school for almost 3 weeks. I was 8 yrs old at the time.

  • I lived in Saraland...I was 9 yrs old, so we're real close in age. That was like the apocalypse wasn't it? No electricit, trees down everywhere, buildings in shambles, people lining up to get bags of ice...crazy times! I learned to use a chainsaw that week! LOL!

  • I was in the sixth grade.Yeah it did damage.

  • I was two years old. Me, my mom, dad and older brother went to a local church for shelter. I don't remember anything about the storm but the pictures my parents have explain it all.

  • I had just given birth to my daughter about 10 weeks before the storm. I remember putting her and her 3 year old brother in the bathtub during the worst of the storm...it was terrifying. We lived out Tanner Williams Rd. way and we went without power for WEEKS!!! This summer, on July 1st. my baby girl turns 30...my oh my how time flies!

  • It was my 20th birthday!

  • I remember this storm. I was 21 just bought my house. Had an inch of water in the house. Looked like the place I live was bombed trees down everywhere. With out power for 3 weeks.

  • Wow, this sure brings back some bad memories. My son was 5 weeks old during Frederick. We went to Montgomery and it took us 3 days to get home. I lived in Midtown. We were without power for 5 days.

  • I was 19, living in Mobile, when Frederic hit. We lived in the Crestview subdivision off Hiway 90. We were without electric for 4 days.

  • what happened to the burger king sign?

  • It suffered wind damage.

  • yeah i know that i waz only trying to show some sarchasm

  • Lol. Okay.

  • I was 2 years old and had to sleep with all the other kids in the basement of my church in Citronelle.

  • I was about 4yrs old and living in theodore. My only memory of this, though very vivid,is my family and i lying in the hallway praying, and i could hear the roar of the wind outside.pretty scary

  • I was living in Theodore at this time. We were without power for at least 4 weeks. I was 13 and although we had many huge oak trees torn down, we didn't lose a single shingle off our house.

Happy Anniversary everyone - 29 yrs ago today!

  • I was 8 when this storm hit...I'm 75 miles away, but we had downed trees and lack of power. For two weeks at least, all you could hear were chainsaws cutting the downed trees. I slept through most of it that night, though.

  • AWESOME!! It's amazing to see footage from such an infamous hurricane! Looking at the severity of the wind damage, it's obvious that Frederic was a monster.
