I feel like you guys have hit your stride with this episode (the romance subplot is finally coming together...a little awkwardly, but it's more progress than we've seen so far)!

I also really love that you've finally moved outside of the classroom, because Japan is BEAUTIFUL, and you're capturing that really well. I miss Kyoto like crazy. :(

This episode demonstrates something typical of run-of-the-mill shows, which is: a segment that disregards the premise (teching english, comedy) almost completely. That (this episode) is happening in Japan is not relevent. You could put this episode's story line in almost any show and it would fit. It makes having the english teaching premise irrelevant, and is a sign of weak writing. If i wanted this i would have watched The O.C. do you understand what i mean?

I learned every lesson this episode teaches you in my initial trip to Japan. (I lived there for 3 years on and off.) Teaching ESL in Japan is an experience like no other and while job security isn't what I would have liked sometimes, I wouldn't trade those years in for the world. Beautiful country, wonderful people and memories that I carry for as long as I live.
