If you are "still waiting" for the credit, you either didn't file your taxes, or you simply didn't notice its existance.
Keep this credit in mind when you do your taxes at the beginning of next year. The credit also applies to 2010 as well.

The 1964 southern Democrats were merely continuing the tradition of belonging to the party opposite of Lincoln. This began after the Civil War (for historically obvious reasons) and lasted until Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act. The southern Democrats included Byrd and Turmond, and their voting record mirrored that of modern day Republicans. King would definitely not be a republican now.
State's rights were once the cause celebre of the southern states, which were Democrat. Now that the Democrats have become Liberals, then Progressives, big government overreach is now their cause, leaving only the old blue dogs to still talk about state's rights (and why many Dems this election have been running anti-big government ads).

If you read the Constitution Article III, Section II, you would realize it doesn't mention anything about Amendments at all. If you have forgotten, the first ten amendments are called the bill of RIGHTS. Not laws, but rights. They are pretty clear in their meaning, just as written.

Usually this comes about because the founding fathers couldn't interpret every scenario possible in the future. That is what amendments are for. Article I, section VIII (General Welfare clause) spawned a debate of the the federal government's role on "welfare" spending, and there wasn't much clarity on the subject until the Supreme Court case Helvering v. Davis in 1937, which granted much of the modern day congresional power to tax and spend on welfare. And because article III, section II grants the Supreme Court power to interpret the Constitution, it has allowed welfare since 1937.

Most of them were between 70 and 90 percent, with the exception of Reagan's presidency, where the top marginal rate was 50% from 1981 to 1986. Despite high taxes, our economy grew quite well during the 50s and 60s. Thus, the argument that "taxing the rich stifles economic growth" is demonstrably false.

@medic9five Assuming you made less than $75,000 in 2009 ($150,000 if you're married), and you filed your taxes for 2009, you obtained a $400 Making Work Pay Credit ($800 if filing jointly). If you are "still waiting" for the credit, you either didn't file your taxes, or you simply didn't notice its existance.
Keep this credit in mind when you do your taxes at the beginning of next year. The credit also applies to 2010 as well.

The 1964 southern Democrats were merely continuing the tradition of belonging to the party opposite of Lincoln. This began after the Civil War (for historically obvious reasons) and lasted until Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act. The southern Democrats included Byrd and Turmond, and their voting record mirrored that of modern day Republicans. King would definitely not be a republican now.

If you read the Constitution Article III, Section II, you would realize it doesn't mention anything about Amendments at all. If you have forgotten, the first ten amendments are called the bill of RIGHTS. Not laws, but rights. They are pretty clear in their meaning, just as written.

There can be some gray areas where the court will need to clarify, but the amendments were written exactly as they were for a reason. It was never meant to be rewritten ona whim, or as the times change, so does the Constitution. NO! It is not a breathing document. Those principles are timeless.

Usually this comes about because the founding fathers couldn't interpret every scenario possible in the future. That is what amendments are for. The majority of power derived by the government was spelled out pretty well in the original Constitution, but we have gotten so far away from that it's ridiculous.

Article I, section VIII (General Welfare clause) spawned a debate of the the federal government's role on "welfare" spending, and there wasn't much clarity on the subject until the Supreme Court case Helvering v. Davis in 1937, which granted much of the modern day congresional power to tax and spend on welfare. And because article III, section II grants the Supreme Court power to interpret the Constitution, it has allowed welfare since 1937.

Most of them were between 70 and 90 percent, with the exception of Reagan's presidency, where the top marginal rate was 50% from 1981 to 1986. Despite high taxes, our economy grew quite well during the 50s and 60s. Thus, the argument that "taxing the rich stifles economic growth" is demonstrably false.

Exactly! I file as a Sub Chapter S Corp. That means I take the company's $1,786,000 as gross personal income therefore I am "rich" by Obama's standards. I have 7 employees. My actual personal wages last year were $120K. Also, S Corps do not pay capital gains, so Obama's reduction in capital gains will only benefit class C Corps like AT&T. When the tax cuts expire my takes will go up to 39% while AT&T will only pay 35%! These liberals need to start a company and try and make a payroll and profit!

The Health Care Reform plan includes Tax Credits for middle and low income families that don't already get insurance from their employer! Read the section of the bill titled "Affordable Coverage Choices for All Americans - Premium Tax Credits and Cost Sharing Reductions" on page 237. Stop spewing venom that you hear from Glenn Beck..And "illegal aliens" do NOT get these tax credits for health care..what else do conservatives want?

Under Obama the IRS has changed the tax tables to where every dollar is taxed. $1 of income... taxed. Before that taxes didn't kick in until you reached $1700 for a single person. This is the change I voted for? I don't think so.
