@Kapilathebiller Yes he drivers for Toro Rosso, but as you know both teams are owned by the Red Bull company so they obviously decided to give him the opportunity to do this.

There is a video on YouTube of a Red Bull event in which a marshal jumps over the car. Sebastien Buemi is driving an actual Red Bull car in that event too.

I can't figure the point of the experiment either but who cares, looked fun as hell. A friend of mine works for AJ Floyt and the cars are somewhat, kinda, sorta close. He had two of their little two seater cars in his truck a few years ago when he came home for Christmas and I got to sit, correction, try to sit in one of them. These suckers are way smaller than they look and light as hell. I'm 6'2" and could not get my big ass down in the cockpit. Enjoyed the video

I don't know if anyone else has spotted this, but didn't they mention they would you slicks, to ensure a greater area of the tyre came into contact with the sand to have better traction? Why is it in the vid though the tyres have treads? Was thinkin it'd actually be no tread slicks, as they used this season :S

What about the air intake? AFAIK racecars have no air filter, because it hinder motor performance, but on sand the motor must become chock-full of sand dust.

Formula One cars are relentlessly high-tech: light (605kg) chassis built with carbon fiber which is stronger than steel, high-revving engines, intricate and sophisticated aerodynamics, electronic driver aids such as traction control, the list goes on. (see my other comment about NASCAR since i couldn't fit everything in this)

He says they are going to use the slicks, (non-treaded tire) and then the video clearly shows them using the rain tires. Im not claiming its fake, but he did lie.

@tattoome5150 He didin't lie. The car went out 4 times. The first 2 they used the slicks as he said before the run. The tires got too hot and had to be changed for the other ones. If you look closely to the action sequence you'll see what Im saying. They didn't plan to use the wets but had to. At the end there was no difference between the two. Considering this was a first ever, an experiment, its all good. Just enjoy the video.
