My name is Mário Annuza; I am Brazilian and I am 33 years old. Since I was a child, I love your country ! Admire your music and collect varied coins. Among them, there is one from Rwanda ! Hugs from Brazil,
Exactly! everything that's done in this world if it's outside Europe or America it's going to have the naf, demeaning, patronising and paternalistic label"exoctic,tribal,etc.." as if the Western culture is our template, fundamentally ahead . It's funny cuse even these tribes they attribute to Rwanda and Burundi are the creation of their colonialist forefathers I couldn't care less cuse I know better but the scary thing is that some of us have bought into it; kinda engrained.
@Ghosta well, in a lot of societies, you see people bud ahead, and they kind'of leave a working population alone, so they have great feats while keeping a culture of features that keeps a few blooming. These people have smarter mentality about it because life seeks to live. I'd rather live in a tropical village, but my kind and your kind has been enslaved for a different purpose. I don't believe that our culture is as strong, but we're what "they" want.
Truth be told white/pale people are the "exotics". Modern man came upon this earth with active melanin in the skin and was the case for the first 55,000 years modern man walked this earth. To not have active melanin in the skin is like being born without an arm. THAT is "exotic".
I am writing a few songs that are supposed to be very similar if not mistakable for rwandese folk/traditional songs. For a documentary about the survivors of the genocide. My question is what instruments would you suggest using? Do you know the names of the instruments they are using? What songs in particular should I listen too? Thanks in advance!
They are using traditional musical instruments called: amakondera;ingoma;amayugi. In the other hand you can use a modern guitare but make sure to pick up three quater rithme with a traditional rwandan sound
Such a beautiful, graceful, strong and gorgeous dance and music! Africa truly is the land of the Gods.

I just wish I had as much rythm in body as they have in just their pinky finger.

actually instead of tribal, they should use cultural as it is part of their cultural heritage. tribal is something else entirely.

There's no such thing as TRIBAL DANCING in Rwanda...it's called RWANDAN TRADITIONAL DANCING...get rid of the "tribal" part, it's demeaning
