LMFAO! Shorting doesn't kill a company because you have to BORROW the shares! That means for EVERY share thats short, there is a share thats LONG!! Some people are so dumb, shorts don't drive stocks down you morons.
Phil was talking about "Naked" shorting, which is when you do not borrow the shares. According to Tim and Phil there is a big difference between the two. I am not a stock expert though, so I can't dispute the case.
Ah, I see. Pardon my overreaction, I've just been running into a lot of people who think shorting is "evil" and should be banned.
There is a big difference, and that is naked shorting is illegal. However most people don't think of this and say shorting stocks drives them into the gorund, and therefore they say shorting should be banned or we should slap more regulations on it. All we have to do is enforce the laws that are already there.

Go to investopedia and look up "Naked shorting" it will explain the difference.
