That's no Thermite bomb. Thermite comes in power form. Or in the case of the WTC demolition, spray on Nano-thermite.

Well, if I recall correctly the firebombing of Dresden was accomplished by having miniature thermite containers (of the aluminum/ iron oxide powder) ignited by a magnesium fuse. The way it works is really slick. It could have actually been a thermite based bomb, or it could have been the box it looked like.
