When I watch videos of them ten years from this, I know they still got it...but Davey seems a little alienated and/or depressed or is just moving on. I mean, of course you would move on after that amount of time! So many of us wish for the old times...but it just seems that they were at their best in the 1999-2003 era, this venue suits it. Every band goes through it. AFI kicks ass always.

The amount of ignorance here is amusing. As much as you say the younger Davey Havok would have went against all their new music just because they went mainstream, he was still younger. Everyone matures, and he never agreed to being a true punk for his whole life, he always had different influences, and he wants to do something different now. I'm not saying the new AFI is better than the old, I find satisfaction in both, but you can't say that someone sold out because they grow older.

I love this video. Btw, Davey dressed gothic/punk, not emo, there is a stark difference. That was a reflection of their sound; dark hardcore punk. Their sound now isn't bad, but it falls short of everything before '03 (greatly).

This is it, I love this performance. I keep coming back to this video. Everything about this performance is great. Raw energy, AFI in their prime. This is when I fell in love & was die hard for them, this was all that mattered.
This is how I will always remember them. I refuse to go see them live now because the venues aren't this intimate anymore plus they don't have the same intensity. I agree with people that change is good, but I just didn't like the way they changed. At least I will always have the memory of going to those crazy shows back in the days.

I'm agree with you. AFI was a band who used to write hardcore songs and now they're just doing art in the way they want to. Their songs are much mature, lyrics are more objetive and clear. Their new stuff is better in quallity. Instead, years brings security and steals energy in exchange. I like very much the new material, but I fell in love with the AFI showed in this video and that will always be the AFI golden times for me : )

To start we have Dancing Through Sunday, The Leaving Song Pt.2, Reivers Music and This Celluloid Dream to name a few, then there are songs like Kill Kaustic, Affliction and Kiss and Control and more recently we have songs like End Transmission, Okay, I Feel Better Now and 100 words. That is the short list, for a full list just look at their entire discography.
The ones you named are awful... End transmission? Kiss and Control?? How can you even put those songs on par with this song... it's Kill Caustic btw, and the screams in it are dreadful.
The only decent ones you listed are DTS and Leaving song part 2.

Crash Love and DU are just plain awful compared to pre-AOD, STS was good, kept the dark, somber lyrics... DU just took a turn for the worst.

Dude, are you fucking retarded? Like seriously, i've already seen that video and no "everyone" did not know the words. At the start of the song there were only 5 or 6 people who actually had their hands up, then some people started clapping at the breakdown. Seriously man.. even people commented on that video saying "the crowd sucks". Which indirectly means you suck (and this is the opinion of others)

Even if they suck now (which they don't) this still isn't the best song they've written, there are tons of songs on par and better than this one though it is a great song, hell, there are songs on Crash Love that are just as awesome as this.

To start we have Dancing Through Sunday, The Leaving Song Pt.2, Reivers Music and This Celluloid Dream to name a few, then there are songs like Kill Kaustic, Affliction and Kiss and Control and more recently we have songs like End Transmission, Okay, I Feel Better Now and 100 words. That is the short list, for a full list just look at their entire discography.

The DF is garbage and doesn't mean anything. I've been a member of that board since 2004 and still haven't joined... I've seen them many times and I even have Jade's fucking guitar pick. Correcting your spelling obviously makes me right because you spelt it wrong....
And I was at edgefest, right at front, that's where I got Jade's pick.
Crash Love and DU are just plain awful compared to pre-AOD, STS was good, kept the dark, somber lyrics... DU just took a turn for the worst.

you could be right. i am just going by shit i saw in the mid ninties. i have seen afi at least 15 times the last being in 01. one show in 96 a band i worked with opened for them. after we went to the nam(vegan resturant) were i witnessed him passionitly kiss another guy. it could have been a joke or a dare i did not see the events leading up to it. davey and hunter are two of the coolest guys i have meet. i even love hunters other band the force. check out there myspace.
