As a fellow american, our assistance, and profiting of the war was in our best interest. We acted when it was good for us, as we should. But ultimatley the Germans beatt hemselves, not being able to retreat, did not fit into german warfare tactics.
Hoewever it was American Bullets, American Fuel, and American Food, American Tanks, American Weapons, American Bombers, American Trucks...need i go on, that fought the germans over the skies of England, or on the barren steepes of Russia.

The 5 bloodiest battles in history were all fought in the USSR during WW2. Think Normandy was bad? Look up the battle of Stalingrad.
Of course it's always fashionable to think that because we participated in a war, we were the greatest players in it, but we had NOTHING on the Soviets in terms of body count, cost, etc.

I think you are undervaluing the impact of American Aid to Russia, not only in just munitions or tanks, but trucks or food. Sure Russia did win the war, but the means by whcih they did, would have been unobtainable without American aide.
BUt even saying Russia/us beat germany. You could argue Germany defeated themselves, Barbarossa, Alliance with Japan, luftwaffe commited at Dunkrik not the wermacht etc; the list goes on.
