Ha ha ha...It's so funny, I have watched countless videos of Alina on this website, and on every single one, at least one person comments... "maybe she was having a bad day. dancers can't be perfect every time"...ha ha ha... Apparently she has many bad days. As for Zakharova - she's IS a machine!

P.S. This entire video is Zakharova in La Bayadere. ???

That's svetlana zakharova, not somova. although miss zakharova is not my favorite dancer, she is ten times stronger and more expressive than somova. Somova just doesn't have detail.

This is not Somova at all!!!! It does looks like Svetlana !!!!! But she looks tired and both dancers looks more fat!! Jose Manuel and Svetlana kind of injured I don't know if it's her!! But if she is this is the first time I saw her tired and making noise with his point shoes!!! I hope she's doing great cause she is my favorite dancer!!! And my second is Somova!! They both are perfect ballerinas!!!!

That is not Alina Somova al all!!! Not her face, Not her coiffure, not her breast, not her shoulders, not her hands, not her lega and not her dance. I've seen Alina on stage about 30 or 40 times, including La Bayadere, and I can say: ichebat, it's a deception!

God, they're loud on their shoes. I think softer landings would go well with better balance.

@Grungirl Keep in mind that Russian style shoes are very hard and loud. I wear Russian Pointes, and they're loud from the day they're new until they die! ;)

They are both amazing dancers....

I just like Svetlana better because she is more mature. And her body is better... thin but strong.... Alina just looks thin and flimsy.

But both are very very good.... and both worked really hard to earn their postition.

you will have a difficult time watching her, because she is for the most part INJURED... Enjoy her understudy.

svetlana will ALWAYS be superior 2 somova no matter what somova does... i mean svetlana does have flexibility but she uses it tastefully like a dancer rather than an olympic gymnast... she also has better acting skills and she makes her movement ART... they way she lets her fingers linger through the music and her back port de bras ever so gracefully and her legs promote power.

We are not principal dancers and I respect Alina Somova for her work. But we can have our judgment from different critical angles, even if we are not professionals. I don't like Somova as a dancer, but I know it's a matter of taste.

@danse0pera I think Svetlana is better. It's a taste of vulgarity if someone like's Somova. Or at least what she was. She has improved and I respect her, but she's not one of my favorite dancers.

This is a wretched performance by Somova, but to be frank she never really puts on an awe inspiring show. She is a cheat in her balances as well...she relies on her partners strength to compensate for her weakness. And get some quiter pointe shoes, those are bloody noisy

This Somova clip has their

choreographic style, but NOT

the deep feeling these superstars

once put into this crucial scene.

I completely agree. I love how extremely critical these people are. How many of you are principal dancers of a company? You don't get there unless you have superior talent and it takes years of work and discipline. It's appalling that you feel comfortable criticising someone for something you probably could never do yourself. Both of them are beautiful. Maybe you should stick to posting video of yourself dancing and we'll see how good your balance is.

Yes, Somovas balance is stronger (incidentally she has acquired it only recently); I do believe that Svetlana shows more maturity in her interpretation of this piece. Both Russian primas are divine.
