Especially with the DNA relations as well, it is pretty clear that human and other types of ape descended from a similar ancestor.

Monkey, ape, and prosimian are the families. It's like order reptilia (reptiles). Snakes, crocodilians, and lizards are in separate families but all fall under the order of reptiles. All primates may have evolved from a monkey millions of years ago, but they are not all monkeys.
