Stop unwanted programs by using Microsoft Process Explorer. Defragment your PC, stop your Antivirus. Use reginout to remove temporary unwanted files and repair corrupt registry files.

If any of you want faster gaming but have little RAM and a whole lotta free HardDrive. Then follow these steps:1:goto startmenu rightclick on computer. 2:Select properties 3: Click advanced then the top button that says something about virtual memory 4: If you gave like 100000mB (100GB) of hd then you can easily make 10-15GB of hd to ram which helps with mostly gaming. there are also a few programs that speed up your computer such as "tune up" or "system care".System care mostly deletes useless crap from your computer(it's free, what do u expect) and tune up does a whole bunch of stuff that really help including what they call "turbo mode"...no need to explain, but u can only get a 15 days trial(not like u need more to run it, and the turbo mode doesn't really help)

Ive watched more then bout 40 vids about speeding up my cpu well i hope u can solve it. Look my computer has only 2 disks ( C and D) my C is a total size of 29.2 gb and ive got 8.52 gb free space on my other disk D ( Used for Gaming only) Total size is 119 GB and ive got 30.3 gb free space. Best of all my rams are 2.99 GB Computer is Intel(R) Celaron(R) D CPU 3.06 ghz. IT just LAGS REALLY LAGS when i play games over 1 gb. I have avast antivirus it cleanes it good and i have 0 virsus help me!!

@TheHouda1234 if ur comp is old you prob need to clean the dust out of it. check its temps with speedfan. if youve been running xp for a while you prob need to reinstall coz its performance degrades over time, or install linux

Hi, you're computer should be running a lot faster after a reformat. Did you upgrade operating systems? Vista takes a lot more resources. I assume you have a good antivirus program running? Did you reinstall all your previously installed programs?

@cathyjomccann I use Linux Ubuntu OS , and I ran the Windows and Mac OS on a Linux PC in a Virtual machine ... Linux is free , and doesn't get viruses , and never needs to defrag ... Linux Mint, and Ubuntu Linux are both good, and then I just install VirtualBox on my HP/PC and it lets me run Windows and Mac inside Linux ...

DO NOT GET VISTA!!! I'M BEGGING YOU! VISTA STINKS! Windows vista seems to do fine at first, but after one year, it will slow down, the hard rive counter will jump as much as 30 gigs (up) but then it will slowly fall, even if you save simple items. :-( If Windows 7 is better the Vista, I'm upgrading. If Microsoft fails, It's back to XP for me. I'll have to find an aftermarket because Microsoft forces people to buy their products by stopping the older better versions. Just a warning. :-)
