I love that Brian maintains marriage would only destroy what they have. I don't think Brian ever wanted Justin to leave, but knows he can't ask him to stay, thus lets him go in the hope he'll one day return. Really if you think about how deeply Brian loves Justin, the series finale makes perfect sense.
