  • dimas... that speed...

  • inspiring

  • thank's god for this atlethes... they give to us the motivation

  • I just watched the whole thing. Worth every penny.

  • im almost snatching the same way like Naim Suleymanoglu, but Im 6 ft / 1.78 m tall. is that a real problem??

  • Comment removed

  • hahaha Dimas used to play around with weights that no American has ever done....greatest country in the world my arse!! Americans are only successful at sports which they play exclusively!!

  • @needabloodyname and eating hotdogs ;]

  • @m43str0s It makes the line of pull straighter and stops you from energy wasting the movement. By creating movement where it shouldn't be, you are creating drag that can rob you of good technique and reps later in the set.

Most people don't understand that by slightly raising your chest and tucking the chin, you straighten out the T-spin monetarily, which shifts more of the weight to the hips, upper back and Elbows. The result is a more efficient lift, thats all.

  • @mrceebees14 With regards to the chin tucking and t spine relationship, when should this occur? I am see the complete opposite in these videos.

  • @acolussi88 At the bottom.

  • @acolussi88 don't listen to that mrceebees guy, he is a fucking sociopath. He was on a Zhang Gouzhang vidoe saying that his squat sucked at that he should be putting up over 320kg.

  • Dimas??? Split Jerking??? WTF

  • These mother fuckers are weak look up Bulgarian Ironmind haha

  • @Vesselins

    ...Really? Weak?

  • 1:21

No disrespect, but he is robbing himself of a-lot of power with jerking like that. Would not suggest that lifter be a role model for this lift, that chin way out there is a huge no no.

  • @mrceebees14 well he does have 46 world records in weightlifting

  • @long1468 Not international records.

  • @m43str0s i never said that you retard, point out where i said that.

  • Great work! Feel free to comment and rate our videos... take care BRONSON

  • Beyond what any American could do at that body weight? You cocky asshole, it's not like a Bulgarians are any different. They just train like 8 hours a day, that's all Bulgarian lifters do, they don't even work. In America, you have to work Atleast 8 hours a day, lifter or not, so fuck off.

  • @sk8forlife90

The guy he's talking about is Greek/Albanian (depending who you ask), not Bulgarian.

There are weightlifters in the US who train 24/7. There is an Olympic training centre.

  • @sk8forlife90

And it's true, no US weightlifter in that weight class was, at the time of this video, able to lift what that guy (who was a 3-time Olympic champion, by the way) was doing in training. It's not that no US weightlifter had the potential to do it, I'm sure there are tons of US lifters with enough potential, it's just that none were actually capable of doing it.

  • @JacktheDaniels sure

  • dimas is a beast

  • yeah but let's see him grab 5-pound weight off the top of the fridge lol

  • hes 5'10" and probably had well over a 40 inch vertical

  • Naim Suleymanoglu?

  • o i was talking about dimas

  • Suleyman the magnificent

  • Dimas was a God in the sport

  • Where does that leave Pablo Lara? Granted Dimas probably power cleaned more than 170 at 85, but Lara did 190 at 76. For Dimas to have same ratio he needed a 212.5 power clean, improbable since his best comp jerk was 215. So if I want a gene for lifting I favor Lara---a Cuban. Do not take this as running down Dimas.

  • skirts365

Where does that leave Zhang Xiangxiang? He power cleaned 160 at 62. So if I wanted a gene for lifting, I would favor Zhang Xiangxiang. But don't take this as running down Lara.

  • But what I am most impressed with is Tom Topham lifting his horse over the turnpike gate circa 1733 "Strength Proved" re Topham and his one arm overhead press of 378 pound man at 196lbs. Don't howl the claims down till you search the web.

Is there video or photo of Zhang? Was he trained by Master Po? Seriously, when I'm up for the day I'll look. We both know the most "efficient" lifts are by lighter and SHORTER lifters. Has hang done a 3x like Guenchev (I know dq'd but still a 3x).

  • @XterxX I'd like to see videos of the Chinese athlete you mention---what's called power cleans do vary as to height bar reaches when racked on shoulders--Lara's looked VERY high altitude---the differences in degree of knees bent matters as to relative merit. For 2 best lifters at old 82.5 class---Vardanian and IMO just 1% better--Asen Zlatev with a 415 composite total in training 230 + 185.

  • @skirts365 youtube.com/watch?v=U-G3dGvfY3Q

  • @skirts365 Lara's looked too easy to be limit I didn't see the Chinese guy's lift at any brate both have to be considered far beyond the normal man's abilities.

  • @skirts365 Dimas cleaned 230 in training.

  • @brandell69

    urik vardanian.

    look for him on youtube.

dimas pranced around but never came close to

    vardanian.

  • @papawebs49 Makes me happy to see people who know this.

  • I admire the little guys but fuck man, when u see 190kg fly up easy like that with weller you just gotta say, fuck !!!!!!!!!

  • that slow motion snatch was very interesting! And the lifter did those seizure-like movements before the lift .. I thought for a second there was something wrong with the video :D that guy was fast

  • These are some really gifted lifters. The guy that dropped the weight on his chest and walked it to the rack is a sick bitch!

  • What are the small white plates they use?

  • Probably 5 kg plates

  • Dimas's peek was 200 at Sydney when he c&j 215kg

  • his snatch was bad that day though.....for him at least...

  • pyrros's best was 170 or 175 in 1993 at this point and jerk 202.5 if i remember correctly, i cdnt imagine his training at his peak, that 200 fs is soo easy!!

  • WOW! that was a sick snatch by dimas at 0:28 hardly any squat to catch it pure power!

  • Wheres Chakarov and the no no no???

  • Comment removed

  • i think this is just a preview of the video, IVE SEEN THE WHOLE THING I BOUGHT IT ITS WELL WORTH THE MONEY... i think i have the tripple 270 squat on video... but im not sure im allowed to sent it to people.. il ask they guy who sent it and see what he said... hes got the whole footge of chakarov in this very venue..

  • why is pyrros split jerking?

  • I believe he switched to the push jerk after getting an injury.

  • Dimas won the gold in Barcelona with a power jerk...

  • Power Jerk == Push Jerk

    Same lift, different names.

  • Yeah... What I'm saying is that he was already push/power jerking before the lifts on this video. As far as I know he never used the split jerk in competition.

  • for a very short period i believe

  • He used power jerk in Barcelona in 1992, this is 1993. And in 1995 he used power jerk again...

  • He had been used push jerks since 1992 Barcelona, where he won his first gold medal until 2004 when fe retired!

  • good stuff

  • Tournefier is now my teacher of sport at school... he is funny

  • WTF!? that dude walks with 170kg on his shoulder like nothing

  • That's the least amazing thing about "that dude" on this vid.

  • The big guns! All retired now...thanks boys !!!

  • suleymanoglu has perfect technique

  • Actually, no! Perfect for him, maybe, but not necessarily something to emulate.

'Suly' pulls way back and jumps way back and throws his head back even further. While this might be successful for a really strong little guy pulling big guy weights, it's not technique a less experienced, less strong lifter should try to adopt.

Dimas and Weller are actually much better examples of technique.

  • no one has perfect technique, but if you had to cite someone for it, Georgi Markov, especially at the 2004 Olympic games as a 69kg lifter, would be one to mark for technique.

Dimas not so much as his pull is very individual, and so is his powerjerk. Suley's pull is much more textbook, especially his first pull. and also, I believe suley throws his head back so far because otherwise it would hit his head, so there is good reason for that.

  • romanaz,

I was referring to technique seen in this video - there are certainly far better examples of technique by other lifters.

Still, Suly's pull is ideosynchratic. It works for him, but it's not what any coach would teach. He leans far back in part to counterbalance bars outweighing him by nearly 3 times in the CJ, & at the same time achieve the classically Bulgarian pull, ie, pull back/jump back.

If you want to see nearly perfect, textbook technique, look at Valentina Popova!

  • Seriously? She hardly gets any hip extension and feet don't leave ground at all. I'm a fan of the chinese lifters, they all lift very similar all very smooth.

  • desembodic,

Valentina does get full extention, & her feet leave the ground only enough to put her feet in squat position. You didn't see her extension because she has such a quick transition from the top of her pull into jumping down. It is a fallacy that the feet must leave the ground. But her feet DO leave the ground - just enough.

Simply put, she's very efficient - no wasted motion in picking up & stomping her feet, no wasted time in staying extended longer than necessary.

  • i hear the greatest technical lifter ever is kakhiasvilis

  • I second that! But his technique is unique, he starts his descend before he's even fully extended, a very tough skill to learn and as you can see he's lightning fast under the bar!

  • @UC15 Glad I am not the only one who saw it, the second he through his body way back I said "that is poor technique."

  • @UC15

what do you think about dimas's preshrug in the clean. he shrugs very early

  • ahmednabil,

    It works for Dimas.

His early shrug puts the bar high into his hips, which is where he gets the leverage, speed, and trajectory he needs.

For most people this is probably not advisable because it takes a LOT of extra effort to keep the shoulders shrugged against those very large forces at the top of the pull. The same goes for elbow bend in the pull.

  • @UC15

thanks , i think thats the first time you comment for the last 3 years no ?

yes its hard to keep them shrugged and back during the 2nd pull, and it creats a loose par or a spring allowing the escape of force , elbow bend is not an option for me , but my arms seem to be relatively long so i cannot make contact with the bar at upper thigh and it takes alot from the lift too .

  • pyrros is amazing, hes walking with 170kg... damn

  • Great! Some of the best lifters of those years. Thanks a lot for showing Ronny Weller! He was my first weightlifting hero, but there is not much footage of him around.

  • suleymanoglu is pretty fast even five times slower ;)

  • grande pyrros
