I agree, Vonzell's was better. I didn't like Latoya on this song. It felt higher than her range, although she managed. Latoya is the better technical singer but what Latoya lacked, and what sent her home, was a lack of personality and a lack of passion. She was a boring contestant. You knew she was going to come out and do well but you really didn't ROOT for her. I wanted her to win that season, but looking back, I'm glad she didn't.

@MistaRichardz I LOVE LaToya too! Vonzell was awesome as well and she too had a powerful voice. But I think Vonzell didn't have as much control of her voice as LaToya has over hers. LaToya was never out of tune and was always on point. Vonzell's voice was much too big for her to handle, lolol! LaToya was magnificent!!

I just heard the Vonzell version. Are people serious? They think Vonzell sung this better than Latoya? Latoya made this song her own and her voice was spectacular! Vonzell was grunting out the notes at times. They both did well but for me, Latoya hit it out of the ballpark!

Latoya's is vocally better than Vonzell... but Vonzell was "going through something" that week on Idol so she sang it with a lot more urgency and abandon.. both were GREAT performance of a great song

No, sir. Vonzell is/was much better than LaToya. All I ever needed to hear was Vonzell's rendition of "How Do I Live" by LeeAnn Rimes/Tricia Yearwood, and I was sold. She did that A LOT better than both of those ladies. Don't get me wrong, this was a GREAT performance, too, but I think Vonzell is the overall better artists. She did a lot of challenging, popular songs on Idol that most people shy away from because it's too hard for them to do. And she pulled them off effortlessly.

I knew Latoya was really outstanding when she sang "all the time" on Barry Manilow night, and Tamyra Gray when she sang "A House is not a Home" Both were excellant and had the whole package, voice, likable, confident and attractive. Idol 2009 hasn't hooked me with any performances like these did.
