no offense to Phil Collins, but this one is way better than the original version!!! I first heard it about 5 years ago in Lithuania and I was searching for this song performed by Kings Singers since then... I finally found it...
I scored a 1450 on my SAT, but that meant nothing. (those both prior were why I was offered scholarships...until they found out that I didn't have a "college prep" diploma in the state of GA)...even though I graduated high school with 28 credits at that time, I didn't meet their "college prep" because they did not recognize the high school biology or language credits I did IN A HIGH SCHOOL in Northern VA...
How wonderful. Now, I have my revenge. I make money putting Americans out of work.
Why rescinded? Simple...I went to 10 schools over 12 years, 'cause my father had the audacity to be a military person. My choir when I was in Tacoma performed in the National Festival of Gold in the National Cathedral...and even placed...but of course that means nothing to Westminster. I could have been a choir teacher...now I make a living putting people out of work. Not fun.
I met them all in ATL...I'd love to sing just one song with them...it's not the old Kings Singers, but of all groups, they've done a great job. I'm 32...I grew up on their music (through my parents), seen them several times...and they inspired me to vocal works...back before it was popular in the circuit to but their arrangements...you know, before 2000...that due to our nice educational system, got offered scholarships that were rescinded.
I LOVE the KINGS SINGERS! But, in person....I'd love to sing with them...just once. I have a 3 octave range...and I know so many of their pieces....what would that cost...? A jam session, so to speak?
BEAUTIFUL... as always.. Paul you total smoothy... the harmonies are gorgeous and then Phil does a bit.. ahh... I am soaring straight up into the stratosphere, and I have no wings yet... Stunning.. *sighs deeply* :0)x
I think I already commented on this video but I will again. This is beautiful. Paul Phoenix: Best tenor I've ever heard. All of you blend so well it makes my heart melt. :) I hope one day I can go see you in concert. And meet you. aah! :D
@kingssingersgirl I couldn't agree more. I recently ordered the sheet music and tried singing all the parts myself, and it makes it all the more obvious how incredible their intonation and blending is, not to mention Phil's arranging skills!
@Spudbass yes i have actually... i went back in february. do you remember a blog from back in february where a girl had given them gift bags at a texas concert?
I had the pleasure of working with them a few years ago... lot of Beatles' songs with a pops orchestra..... why does that organ have canons aimed at the congregation?!?! ............ I hope they're not canons in D!!
I have a ton of their albums 11 on vinyl and 62 CD's as well as 4 videos. If anyone needs anything let me know. I love sharing their music with others.

Paul does do a great job with the solo on this one, and the blend of the accompanying vocals is exquisite. It rivals, and in my opinion bests, the studio version.
I believe Philip Lawson did arrange it. You can find it on their album "Circle of Life", (Bob Chilcott does the solo there) and you can pick up the sheet music at their website.
A friend of mine let me hear "Lo How A Rose Er Blooming" (in German of course) on their album "A Little Christmas Music". At that time I had just recently discovered my love for ensemble singing, and it was the best thing I'd ever heard. Little did I know they had so much more amazing work. I now own 25 albums and counting! And you?
recommendation through itunes- "lullabye (goodnight my angel). i now own between 20-22 and counting! i have always loved ensemble music- i want to be a choir director actually! so this is basically the most awesome thing i've even heard. actually, i wouldnt mind learning a thing or two from stephen about directing. he has his international a cappella school, you know. i would give almost anything to go and learn from him!
Went to a small New Year's party at a friends house once, and Phil was there with his wife. They did a voice/piano/violin duet for us :)

This is a beautifully simple arrangement... Paul's voice is to die for. One in a million both as a treble and tenor!
