  • Yoko Fujimoto of Japan and Derek Nakamoto (Japanese-American Composer) perform Traditional Japanese Folk Music with a Jazz Fusion Twist. Hear some of their music on links provided in the article.

  • What a wonderful song. I used to sing it when I was in the 4th class in an Indonesian elementary school in 1943. Could anybody give the lyrics and its English translation? (After half a decade, I cannot remember the words anymore). aRIFATO.

  • 桜 桜 野山も里も 見渡す限り 霞か雲か 朝日に匂う 桜 桜 花ざかり 桜 桜 弥生の空は 見渡す限り 霞か雲か 匂ひぞ 出づる いざや いざや 見に行かん
  • romaji: Sakura, sakura, noyama mo sato mo, miwatasu kagiri, kasumi ka, kumo ka, asahi ni nio. Sakura, sakura, hanazakari. Sakura, sakura, yayoi no sora wa, miwatasu kagiri, kasumi ka, kumo ka, nioi zo izuru. Iza ya iza ya, mi ni yukan. i don't have the translation into english. i copied this from other youtube comments. no offence to the originators. ;)
  • Thanks for the lyrics, kanji as well as romaji. Where could I find the English translation? Arigato gozaimasu.

  • "noyama mo sato mo..." version is made in 1941 for new textbook,

and "yayoi no sora wa" version is made in about 1890.

This song group also sing with older Edo-piriod version.

    Saita sakura,

hana mite modoru, Yoshino wa sakura,

Tatsuta wa mommiji, Karasaki no matsu,

    tokiwa tokiwa fukamidori

They are a little classic expression, but using translation site somewhere, you could see the meaning easily.

  • Arigato gozaimasu. Just curious: poconyanpocopoco is from where or in what language? What does it mean? In Indoensia thre is a popular folkdance called pocopoco.

  • Oh my god, i love this song. I got to sing it with my choir at a concert recently

  • One of my all time songs I learned that in Japenes in grade 6 and still remeber it nice choir

  • I really want to visit Japan... I want to see all of Japan with my own eyes and the tranquility it brings... Just beautiful.

  • I think the modern Japan is not so much nature and tranquility anymore. There are these things as well, but for observers like us it's mainly crazy things going on. (A bad way to describe it, but I couldn't do any better).

And: I love Tokyo. Neverending craziness. ^^

  • yes but still there are plases like in any contry that are still peacefull and lovelly i wish to visite them some day soon

  • not to be roud but some time a person hase a wish a desire that he holds dear and belives in .like lets put it this way how do u know there is god if you never seen him?

  • i don't know. i only believe. i realize i don't know god because i've never experienced it's presence. with experience the belief is never liberated into anything. just as a child believes in the tooth fairy.

  • Not into making a point,as I'm not that religious, but the basic example for this is the wind ...you cannot see it,but you know it's there, you feel it's breeze as you feel there must be a higher being out there !

  • @Folowne I only saw Tokyo six years ago and that was enough for me to want to go again. I fell in love with the city.

  • I don't think there's another country in the world with a more beautuful national song than Japan

  • cherry blossoms are my favorite flowers

  • Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms, Blanketing the countryside, As far as you can see. Is it a mist, or clouds? Fragrant in the morning sun. Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms, Flowers in full bloom. Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms, Across the Spring sky, As far as you can see. Is it a mist, or clouds? Fragrant in the air. Come now, come, Let's look, at last!
  • A lonely path through the flowering trees. The vast sky over the head far off,I cannot touch. The blue water stream adding to the pleasure of beauty and pain of being alone. Two ducks in love amidst a peaceful world full of beauty and for me....so much loneliness,I cannot touch the beauty and love I see and could feel.I wish to hope that there will be some change, some day....

  • Such a beautiful and sad message, thank you!I do hope things could change for you soon...I wish you good luck!
