Tarp camping in Australia is a more comfortable option during spring and summer but mosquitos during the night and snakes, looking for warmth are a hazard here. Tent for me please. Good vid!
Just in case anyone's still around, the Akto is available from a number of suppliers here in the US. It's priced at $430.00. For those of you from other countries, that would be the total price, no extra taxes ( as long as it comes from another state to yours) and the suppliers ship it free.
Ignore the comment about what we call a tent here; the Akto is considered a tent by everyone else except this chap, including the suppliers who sell it.
The high sierras have very strange weather patterns also. Ive lived in california for all my life an ive seen 100+ degrees in the valley and snowing in the sierras. A 1 hour drive from the heat and your in the snow? Crazy, not including most of the sierras have not been documented (still finding world world 2 aircraft that have crashed on a yearly bases).
you can use rocks on the inside and tie string on the onside to create tie off points. Even when tarp tie off points get ripped out use rocks on the inside then on the outside use ropes around the rocks. Create tie off points any where you want.

@mackmark1 The tent is a Hilleberg Akto, not sure if you can buy them in the U.S
Tarptent scarp1 is a similar design

In America we don't consider that a tent.
It's some hybrid tent/tarp.
A tent in America is self standing.
