  • @bulldogcgb Don't know off the top of my head - I will try to see if I can dig it up. I have those wheels on a Savage Flux 5T now, and a CastleNeu combo in the E-Revo. But it was basically the largest (aka most expensive) 12v Dewalt motor with a 5mm diameter shaft

  • what shock set up do you have? Yours lands sooo smooth, makes just a "thoo" sound. Mine like makes a "thud" sound and body rattles. I like the way Ur shocks just absorb the landing.

  • @TheChris1696 Thanks! I am using the P2 rockers, with the optional blue & silver springs, about 5mm of preload and slightly heavier shock oil than stock in the rear. The nice thing about those big wheels is that they make it even easier to control the truck in the air, and (hopefully) land on all four wheels together...

  • @bluefisherking Are the P2 rockers the120mm rockers that come with the truck? I have the 90mm rockers on with the blue and silver springs but my back sags. I have the 30wt shock oil in it so im going to try some 60wt shock oil in the back and keep the 30wt for the front.

  • you sure can hear the slipper clutch doing it's job! Nice jumping!!

  • @elitecamaroz28 ha ha, yes, I was quite cautious about whether those big wheels would put a lot of strain on the drivetrain, so I had it a bit too loose to begin with! But yes, it did its job, though I think I may have had to replace the slipper pads not long after :-)

  • @elitecamaroz28 ultimately a clutch is a consumable item, cheaper than breaking parts. Adjusted just right, you can optimise clutch life vs. part durability (i.e. drivetrain). better to wear clutches than shafts, so let's wish bluefisherking can make his machine optimal.

  • nice jumps, not high but still VERY smooth and entertaining!

the ability to smash it into reverse like that is handy, even if it is hard on the drive-train.

  • Yes, those wheels are pretty tough on the drivetrain :-) I have RCM hybrid 1/8 diffs and steel cvds in there so the diffs and axles at least are strong, so that just leaves the centre shafts as weak point. I have a MMM castleneu combo in there now, and it is always (and only) the centre shafts that go when I put those wheels back on for snow etc.

  • What speed contol are you using.

  • Pretty sure that was using the stock EVX-2

  • with 5s wow

  • Yeah, that's pretty much the limit for both the DeWalt and the EVX-2

  • It is defanatly a powerfull and fast motor also seems to be able to take to heat well. I just have a feeling the drivetrain dosent like it lol

  • i burnt the stock 775 on my summit up and made the 12v dewalt motor fit it now has a much greater top speed but it takes off kinda slow at first then just suddenly blast off. also sence it causes it to go out of range much sooner. have you ever had this problem

  • The delay could be that your slipper clutch is a little too loose.

The range problem will be related to interference with the AM radio - did you make sure you soldered on 3 capacitors on the motor?

I didn't have that problem as I am using 2.4G transmitter.

  • I forgot to solder on the capacitors> running much better now. cant just gun it now or it flips backwards.

  • Ah, yes, the caps are essential with this motor and AM radio - the Dewalt seems to kick out a *lot* of interference otherwise...

  • where would I solder the capacitors?

  • One between red wire and the motor case, one between black wire and motor case, and one between red and black wires.

  • nice grass lmao

  • Ha ha... it used to be!!

Luckily that bit is behind a hedge down the bottom of the garden where she-who-must-be-obeyed can't see it... ;-)

  • Those backwards jumps are funny to watch...

  • Not that fast but OMFG torque!!!!!! Monster reverse torque starts at 15 seconds lmao!

  • It sounds like your slipper clutch is really loose.

  • Yes, it was, definitely too loose. I loosened it a bit just before the video was taken, and I must have moved it too much. anyway, it doesn't normally whine that much, and the acceleration has a bit more bite... :-)

  • Exactly :-)

I do take the E-Revo out to bigger open areas too (of course), but sometimes you just want to muck about in the back yard... Those skate ramps are great for that.

  • jumps very smooth :)

  • Which drill is this motor from?

  • I am not quite sure - I spoke to a DeWalt centre and asked what was the most powerful 12v drill they did, and then what was the spare part number of the motor for that drill.. and I ordered that! It is a DeWALT 579724-03 . (That is a UK/European part number, and may not be available in the US).

  • wicked man! i wonder if i could use a drill motor in my slash, hmmmm.

  • I bet you could (the Slash has the same kind of mount as the E-Revo, right?). I had to dremel out the mounting holes a little, but all very easy. Those drill motors are seriously tough.

  • What did you use to remove the factory pressed pinion gear?

  • I tried dremelling a slot in it but that didn't really work (couldn't get all the way down), so I just heated the pinion quickly with a mini blowtorch to make it expand, and before the shaft got hot I just popped off the pinion with a pair of pliers.

  • I think your slipper may be a tad too loose.

  • Yes, I think you are right! I loosened it a bit just before I filmed this, but I must have gone too far... and I think it loosened itself further as time when on!

  • You have a really original E-Revo. I like that, good job : )

    Popoxx.

  • Thanks! It makes me smile... those big wheels are really for snow, water and mud, but they are still fun even just bashing around at the bottom of the garden!
