I have Cablevision Ultra OOL 101MB/15 both laptop and desktop speedtest and myspeed tested mines running 98+ down and 12-15 mb up and be honest I never had a problem wit cablevision and I can play japanese players smoothly on street fighter 4
Cablevision needs to go the fuck under, now. Their internet service is absolute shit. This video hit the nail on the head, our internet goes out 4 or 5 times a day for an hour or more at a time, at least, or slows down to dial-up speeds or dies for seconds at a time randomly throughout the day, just long enough to fuck up whatever you're doing.
@wilmelownzu When you load youtube videos, you are downloading them from YouTube Servers to your computer. The speed is Mega Bits NOT Mega Bytes. It takes 8 bits to a byte. MB (MegaByte) Mb (MegaBit) Take 15Mbps Down and divide it by 8 you get 1.875 MegaBytes per second. My connection is 43 Mbps that is 5.375 MBps. The higher the number the faster the video will load and the faster things will download. With Cablevision take 15Mbps and divide it by 50% that is what you actually get.
@SychoBunnyPro Different Router, than the one in that video. This is an upgraded model with a custom Firmware. I personally use two AirPort Extremes with Wireless Bridging mode. The new netgear my family uses. I have a segregated network, therefor the FCC only sees half of my traffic.
As for Samknows... if you ask for volunteers to test a provider's product you will invariably get the most pissed off customers on the worst nodes. There was a nice thread on dslreports about how unscientific the whole thing was.
That being said.... Cablevision needs to do some work. They need more routers, smaller nodes, and a few more wideband frequencies. And for God's sake they need to not try to compete with FIOS max speeds. Put it towards your average customers and make them happy.
Based on the websites, FIOS 15/5 and OOL 50/8 are pretty close in price (listed first year rates). Maybe that's the comparison they were trying to make. I don't even see your 50/50 package, is it a business rate? FIOS is advertising 50/20 at $140 a month, 40-60 bucks more than OOL's 100/15 service. FIOS offers more consistency at a higher price... for those who want to max out their connection every night, you're probably better off with Verizon, at least until they start getting contended too.
I had cablevision before, and it constantly had cable outages for no reason. My Internet connection for that, and it constantly go out. It seems that every time I went home, my Internet was out most days. Blaa.
We switched to AT&T briefly, then to Comcast. Then after a couple of years, we switched to Verison FiOS. It beats my mind when Cablevision actually onced announced FiOS when they still slowed down. Go on to Chart 12, which is the next one, and it shows the general view.

I have FiOS in Maryland, and i've noticed the speeds drop somewhere around 12 or 1 AM but no big deal, I love the speed. I have the 35 down I think on average I get 25 down and around 12 or 15 up.
CableVision reminds me of my ISP that I'm currently using that gets 1.5mb down and 0.5mb up (2.5mb up and 1.5mb down if DNS settings are configured the right way). Instead of just dropping speeds, however, they actually sometimes go down early in the morning and late at night because they decided to switch to a solar panel system to power it without having any sort of decent backup battery for those hours. It even sometimes goes down during the day when there's nothing but sun outside. It sucks.
I had Suddenlink Cable internet and I do not see them on this list. But I had there best package before they upgraded to Docsis 3.0 which was 15/2 for $65 a month. I always had issue with speed drops, but it was always due to them replacing the lines getting ready for the upgrade and after it was done in my area, I went from 12/1.6 on a good day to 16/2.5 average. So I am un-sure why they are not no this list.
