Right... not the normal GA curising altitude in this country (Sweden) and hence not very familiar with the modern gear available. Does look like a huge band aid, not very comfy(?)
Even Boeing and Airbus haven't come up with a "more professional" solution to the trash problem. There's hardly a flight deck where there's no plastic bag dangling from the F/O's arm rest.
And throwing it out the window is not an option! ;-)
It makes me wonder why there is not a light weight option for storing/stashing objects infllight. I ride motorcycles regularly and have Givi paniers on my 1200 suzuki and can pack and travel responsibly. Maybe some sort of light weight storage system to retain all of this kind of...Stuff?
the reason that i find that the plane gets messy is due to the fact that you can't leave your seat so you tend to throw stuff behind you. Maps always get placed on the right hand seat (if your flying solo) rather than in the pocket for it. what i find useful is to take a shoe organizer and hang it on the right hand seat back and place the right hand seat forward so that you can reach for all the stuff, rubbish in the bottom food above it and any other stuff stored in the other pockets.
The reason it's a pig sty is because they refuse to throw crap out the window! That's what you get for being a responsible pilot. I hope you're happy! ;)
I've been wanting to create a little trash compactor for cars or planes for some time. bags never work for long trips but a compactor would be cool. :) I'll have to think about a chart compactor... ;)
The thing is that in most planes there is little space to begin with. In most cases the two guys are already having a tight fit and there isn't much space left. So you only have to bring in a quarter of all the stuff you need, and you find yourself having the impossible task of organizing more stuff than you can have directly around you. Then try aviating, navigating and communicating. It has never worked out well for me in a small plane.
What the heck are those thingys on their upper lips??! O2-masks??

Yep. They're for oxygen. We were flying at 14,500 feet at the time.

Cannula for delivering oxygen. Easier to wear than a full mask.

I should point out that we don't normally store sectionals in the cage above our heads. Paul was trying to reduce glare for some other video. Really.

I vote for the "two men in a confined space" answer!

When you fly, you fly for fun, not to do major gymnastics in a small aircraft cabin to put stuff away.

because there are two men in a confined space.
