FYI... Any car sold in the US meets NHTSA requirements including photometry levels.

German cars meet also ECE (European) regulations which are much more demanding than the american ones.

LEDs are more expensive than regular bulbs therefore LEDs has nothing to do to the profit comment you wrote

This is a good point but you have to remember that now days there are many more ways to make electricity. Solar panels, wind mills, ect. If I had gotten around to buying one or two solar panels just 3 years ago. I would now be selling extra power back to electric company. (hates self) It can pay off. And if your thinking of arguing about how battery are made it is ALMOST as bad as making gas and it's cheaper and it does not spread toxins around our very homes. :)

@BigChiefLtd1 You forgot to subtrack the amount of gas that won't be consumed on a daily basis by the electric cars. Additionally, more and more people are installing solar panels on their homes and consuming less electricity from the "electric" companies. Some even have a surplus and sell it back. Eventually, there will be more homes with solar panels then without. Eventually you'll see them on cars and as thin film solar matures, you'll see them on sides of buildings and windows.

Going electric skips the middle man, and avoids the pollution when the gasoline is burned(rather inefficiently & noisily), not to mention, would reduce the national debt. .

@cgcgundersen Not really. The issue of electric cars is the ability to store a massive amount of electricity, because that is what it takes to actually make a round trip. Nothing in your house requires that. Part of the problem is creating batteries capable of this task. And that is not environmentally friendly. Mining all of those rare earth metals to make so many massive batteries. Is very environmentally impactful on top of the electricity that car uses.
