  • I think hes in some kind of acid

  • can someone tell me why tony wilson didnt sign them to factory records or did he try?

  • excelente!!! : D

  • cool..classic...the chameleons forever!!!

  • a magical moment in time captured on video

  • Musik für die Ewigkeit....

  • OMG, you sound like a Perth band! OMG.

  • Love this song...

  • Absolutely Beautiful!

  • i think u2 took there songs an sounds

  • Phenomenal band! I love this song.

  • Absolute GENIUS!!

  • ^v^Preciosa canción...^v^

  • ca me rapelle de trop bons souvenirs bordel j avais 14 ans en 82 c etaient les meilleures annees

  • The sounds and the voice is so touching, every time I hear this and other Chams songs, I could cry. The music is going right into my soul.

  • This song seems to put you on a different level, on a distant beach, after a gorgeous storm, while the sun is breaking the sky and you realise something is getting fixed again some time after.....

  • One of my very favourites, and in this version the bass is so prominent...TREMENDOUS!!

  • this is seriously awesome

  • great emotional music. it's a pitty i was born to late just to see them an the sound.

  • tu eres mejor jajajaa

  • Music that is timeless. Sheer Perfection!

  • What a great video. A live performance in a small space with good sound and editing. DVD worthy. Thanx Chameleons for sharing your genius.

  • For whatever reason this music was part of my life...1983 or so in bronx, ny. I too am seeing them for the first time here

  • Heartfelt and honest. good stuff :)

  • I miss them

  • And so ended each of my weekly radio broadcasts many many years ago in Brest - France

  • makes me happy and sad. I never knew of this band til the late 90s and nver saw them perform til now. Class!

  • brilliant

  • I hate douche bag crowd members who shout incompetent nonsense at the band or any entertainer for that matter in some foolish attempt at minor recognition. Too many people talking and not enough thought being given to what the person is saying.. if it's crap walk away. I think those ignorant fools fall closely in line with middle-aged single men who scout shows which are targeted for a young audience in an attempt to score some prepubescent poon. Sorry for my ranting.

  • those guys set the standards of this kind of guitarsound! After that many copied til today.

Also the style of the singer.

  • is Mark still alive? ... what a genius!

  • Yeah, Mark is still alive, living in Germany with his wife. He goes back to Manchester from time to time, he's a Manchester City fan...

  • oh he lives in Germany ... didn't know (do you know where?). Thx for the information!

  • No, Sorry. Probably around the artist quarter in Berlin but that's pretty much a guess.

  • I had no idea Mark lived in Berlin, i was acctually there very recently just to see white lies live, because i liked how they reminded me of the chameleons, i should have looked up Mark instead!

  • Well, you can always look him up on myspace, send him a message, he's a good guy.

  • Genial wie immer !!

  • View from a Tandle hill, its some place near Middleton!

  • I has to be sort of magic place!

  • @TheChameleons73 I went, it was typical rainy Manchester day. It is nice up there with the war memorial though, can see why it meant so much to the band.

  • @TheChameleons73 It wasn't only the place, it was mostly the acid ;)

  • @TheChameleons73 It is, but it certainly didn't feel that way when we did our cross country runs up there in the pissing down rain from nearby Cardinal Langley.

  • oooooo Tandle Hill, Rochdale,. walked up it yesterday . nice one.

  • chills on my back.

  • film myself falling into the void...

  • Mark Burgess...

    So cool :-)

  • Chameleons.... my favorite band from the 80's... definitely one of my biggest influences of all time (and they're not that many). just... what a GREAT BAND!!!

  • ... in 1984 I made an interview with these great boys ... best band of the 80ies!! well I allways wanted to play like them ...

  • Interesting video and song.

  • amazing..........

  • Prefer them to Oasis and the Roses as well, the most underrated band ever probably

  • couldn't agree more. I discovered them a month ago and have listened to the first 2 CDs in my car every day since. Need to buy the next one as well.

  • Oasis cannot be compared with The Chameleons. You don't find this level of melodic content and song-writing in their music. Even the most obscure or unknown of 1980s bands were million times better than Oasis.

  • I think the gig was at a small venue called The Gallery which used to be next to the frre trade hall.

    Happy days!!

  • Yes definately the Gallery on the corner of Peter st and Deansgate. There is a small square and a bar there now. One of my favourite venues in the early 80's. I saw REM play there in 1983/84. Steve Googan did stand-up supporting his brothers band

Great times bands from all over the world played the Gallery. I wonder you owned it. I know Tony the Greek DJ from a local radio station promotod REM. It was part of a series of gigs featuring new US bands like Green on Red, Long Ryders etc

  • would hve loved to be there in the hacienda...

  • woul

  • great track !

  • The Chameleons should have been huge , they were far better than oasis and the stone roses.

  • without the you though :p

  • they should be bigger than you U2 !!!

  • One of the most familiar tapes of my music player of the time. It''s good to listen to that sound again after 25 years ! The songs remain the same.

  • I just bought their first 2 CDs about 2 weeks ago and have been playing them non-stop. I can't believe it took me 25 years to discover them, and only by accident when I was looking up the Comsat Angels. Their sound is timeless and better than most of the shiyt being played today.

  • why are they so little known? it's F$%^& unfair! if they only play some gig... even if it was on the Moon...

    one of their best songs

  • thanks

  • thanx...

  • God save Mark Burguess and The Chameleons .

  • please never get rid of this video!

    It's so wondeful!!

  • they would have been massive if they had sold out but they deserve credit for for sticking by there beliefs, best band i have ever seen live

  • the chameleons are one of my fav band until now!

  • i love my fellow mancunians best of british...amazing band to see live aswell

  • Gänsehautmusik.

  • Quelle belle chanson les années n'ont pas d'emprise dessus. J'ai une foule de souvenirs qui ressurgissent lorsque je l'écoute. Gwenaelle notamment.

Thanks to the Chameleons Many thanks

The chameleons sind keine banale, überflüssige, durchschnittlich langweilige Band.Musik für auserwählte Leute.

  • wonderful song...

  • pity these guys didn't have a great producer like eno supporting them. but maybe that would have mainstreamed them, and forced them to lose their independent voice that enabled them to write songs like second skin. viva la chameleon

  • WTF?? Steve Lilywhite is a fantastic producer! He was also responsible for U2's Boy LP, which has a lot of similar style.

  • thanks Mark Burgess and band!!

f-off to Interpol for trying to rip off their guitar sound

  • waoooooouw ! what a beautiful song ! The more i listen to the Chameleons the less i understand their lack of exposure...

  • Excellent! The bass is real distinctive here.

  • colours and concepts that confound. Love this

  • i rember when i saw then and they came to usa for the frist time. they said sorry but we are verys nervous. they were so humble yet sdo good..

    i love them

  • This looks like a gig at the Band on the Wall, Swan St, Manchester.

    Great post, by the way

  • Well i found this in the emule p2p network....the whole show is 53 mins long...

  • ...same ;)! Very cool material, Chameleons73!

  • Almost very great stuff from you ch73. Where did you get such great material?. Ist famous. THX !
